Rachel Zoe Says Skyler Keeps Her Smiling

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic

Rachel Zoe is known for a lot of things, but smiling uncontrollably has never been one of them — until now.

The celebrity stylist and Rachel Zoe Project star says her first three months of motherhood have redefined her whole personality.

“I’m happy all the time now,” Zoe, 39, told PEOPLE while sipping on Nicolas Feuillatte champagne Thursday at Petit Tresor and CoCaLo‘s Babies R Us collection launch in West Hollywood.

“I swear to God, I walk around with this smile on my face all day. It surprises me.”

After giving birth to Skyler Morrison – her son with husband Rodger Berman – in March, Zoe admits she thought she’d be “exhausted and stressed trying to balance everything,” when in fact having her little one “has just made it easier in a way.”

Taking advice from fellow fashionista Stella McCartney, Zoe explains, “Once you have a baby, your time becomes way more efficient and focused. If she can do it with four kids and run the business she’s running, I think I can do it [with one].”

Does this mean the celebrity stylist also wants four children down the line just like her pal? ”I don’t know about more kids,” she says. “I want to enjoy Skyler for now, so we’ll see. Maybe.”

wow, rachel lost a lot of baby weight. she needs to put more back on.

- sky on

Darn it……she looked so healthy during pregnancy. She filled out and looked so good.

Didn’t last long….she is looking skeletal again.

- Brooke on

Well she’s said she’s breastfeeding. I know it’s not that way for everyone, but nursing literally sucked all the fat off of me. I was eating like crazy and still below my pre-pregnancy weight, which was already pretty low. Rachel may have the same situation going on.

- Liz on

GAG I cannot stand this woman.

- kendrajoi on

She looks so old!!!

- Shannon on

“Well she’s said she’s breastfeeding”

hahaha, yes, let’s believe EVERYTHING a celeb says, cause they have no agendas or want us to think about them in a certain light.

More like she’s drinking lots of high caffeine drinks, exercising excessively, and eating below 1,000 calories a day…I know how these body types work cause I am exactly the same…and if I was a celeb I would probably lie as well. Cause who wants to hear the truth??

- Anne on

I was speaking to my experience Anne – because I also have the same body type. Everyone’s experience is different and I don’t feel the need to assume the worst or that someone is lying. As I said, the weight melted right off me and I’m certainly not lying about that. For some people that is the case.

Isn’t a 3 month old a little too young for a red carpet?

All those bright lights and flashes can’t be good for the baby’s eyes.

I can’t get over how gay her husband looks.

- Mira on

Shannon, I was thinking the same thing. After reading a post about Selma Blair (turning 39) and Cheryl Crow (49), I think there must be a typo with Ms. Zoe’s age. Maybe she’s one of those celebs who chooses to celebrate “39″ over and over again?

I would figure it would be too hot in LA in June for jackets?!

- Katy on

That’s the oldest 39 year old I’ve ever seen. Even my friend who’s 49 looks younger.

- Jenner on

She’s the oldest looking 39 year old ever! If she would just admit her true age of like 49 or so, people wouldn’t be so harsh with the comments, I think.

- Jenner on

so happy for them!

- mimi on

Why do they both always look so awkward with the baby? Is it because the only time they are actually holding him is in front of a camera? I hope IF she is nursing him (which I’m not sure I believe) he is getting enough. He looks very thin and doesn’t have any baby fat. I realize not all babies are covered in rolls, but he looks almost ill skinny and lost in those clothes.

Plus, is it not almost July? Why are all these celebs overdressed?

- Amanda on

God, I’m glad I’m not a celebrity! Yesterday I wore a sweater, a scarf and a coat, because after weeks of wonderful summer weather, we suddenly had a cold spell that lasted for a couple of days. It can happen even in late June! (And plenty of people living in LA have claimed it has been unseasonally cold lately.)

Also, I come from a family of skinny babies and toddlers, that doesn’t mean that we don’t get enough to eat, it’s just a family treat; my brother was a skinny baby, my mother was a skinny baby, my father was a skinny baby, their brothers and sisters were skinny babies, my cousins (with one exception) were skinny babies. My grandparents were probably skinny babies, but I haven’t seen any baby pictures of them, though my grandmothers were both skinny toddlers. Most of them grew up to become decently skinny adults as well (though this seems to be a 50/50 thing among women in on my mother’s side). So, no, not all babies are skinny. Several of my skinny female relatives have also had problems maintaining their weight while nursing (though most have levelled out afterwards). Also, skinny people tend to look older than they are.

MIB – Most of us understand the concept of being naturally lean (fast metabolism, build, genetics, whatever). Most runway models fall into this category and it’s a small percentage of the general population :( . You are one of the lucky few.

One distinguishing feature is that there are no bones sticking out all over the place on a “naturally slim” person and healthwise, they look good, feel good and don’t have restrictive eating habits like someone with disordered eating. Unfortunately, from what I can glean, Ms. Zoe fits into the latter category and her self-imposed starvation will lead to all kinds of health issues later in life, if not already (i.e. Osteoporosis for one).

- cn tower on

Yes it is almost July, and these celebrities are not overdressed. California isn’t always a summer/sun paradise, that some people make it out to be. We have cold weather, especially in June, “June Gloom”

anyone know what brand of sunglasses Rachel is wearing? Thanks.

2@cn tower, I’m certainly not skinny (I belong to the 50 % of the women in my family who gain weight after puberty), but my clavicles were visible even when I was borderline overweight. But that’s not really my point even if i realize upon reading my post again, that I wasn’t very clear. My first point was, that there are babies that are skinny even though they get enough to eat, so a skinny baby does not equal an underfed baby as some have implied. My second point was, that there are women who have a real problem maintaining a healthy weight while nursing (which I have seen in several women in my family, most recently my two female cousins, one of whom looked way thinner than Rachel Zoe in the end, and she had high calory drinks for breakfast and as snacks). My third point was that skinny people tend to look older than they are.

I have no idea wether she is eating enough or not, I’m just trying to point out that the fact that she is thin does not necessary mean that she eats too little.

he’s soo cute! my 3rd son just turned 3mo on March 23rd!

i took him to movies at 2 mo, so I don’t think it’s too young for red carpet events…I am glad she is happy!

- Tiffany on

I think he looks adorable but then I don’t think babies need to be super fat to be cute.
