Chris Powell Welcomes Son William Cash

Let the challenges begin: Chris Powell is a new dad!

The Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition trainer and wife Heidi welcomed a son early Monday morning, June 13 in Arizona, his rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.

William Cash Powell arrived at 2:14 a.m., weighing 7 lbs., 13 oz. and measuring 21.5 inches long. He joins big sister Marley, 4, and brother Matix, 6, from Heidi’s previous marriage.

“The little guy can already bench press 46 lbs.!” Powell jokes.

Mom and baby — who will go by his middle name — are settling in and resting comfortably, according to a statement from his rep.

Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition airs Monday (10 p.m. ET) on ABC.

I actually had a black lab that I named, Cash Johnny….shortly after the legend’s death.

I realize the reference to Johnny Cash, but I still think of money when I hear it. I don’t like it at all. Cris, I think Cash Johnny is cute for a dog, but I don’t like it on a person. And KS- this is a public forum and people comment on names all the time. I’m not the first to say I don’t like a name, it’s a matter of opinion.

I don’t think it’s weird that he moves in with people for 3 months…considering that’s obviously what these people need because they’re practically on death’s door. Before making a hasty comment like that…maybe you should know a little more about him. They also have 2 other children. His wife also flies to see him at the person’s house. She is also very involved behind-the-scenes with the weight loss and lifestyle change. He and she have talked about this during interviews while promoting the show and talking about healthy lifestyles. The money is probably good for him…but he can (and did) make that being just a “regular” trainer. It wasn’t until he helped a morbidly obese friend that he found a different “niche”…helping the extreme morbidly obese.

I’m just saying…it’s not like he moves in with people and only skypes his wife. His wife is VERY involved too in his career…and his kids join him.

Jennifer – thanks for clearing that up. I’ve actually wondered whether he really truly moves in with his clients. I think it’s amazing that his wife is so hands-on with the show.

I think what Chris does every week is inspirational. The show is a GREAT pick-me-up after sitting through two hours of this season’s Bachelorette, haha!!

I’m so happy for Chris and his family – can you imagine having such a motivator like Chris for a dad?? And I love love love the name William Cash!!

William is a name for Kings. I like it. I also like Cash and I am sure prople will get used to it. When I had my first child I chose a name aand my cousin said it was old fashioned and so after much thought changed my mind. When my cousin had her first daughter, she named her the first name I had chosen. After that, I decided that parents should name their children and not ask anyone what they think of it. It’s a personal thing. I think Cash and Chris sound good together.
