Jason Bateman gives daughter Francesca Nora a lift as they attend the 5th annual Kidstock Music and Arts Festival sponsored by Hudson Jeans on Sunday in California.

Frannie, 4½, is the only child for the Horrible Bosses star and wife Amanda Anka.

What’s the actor’s top tip for parenting? “Patience,” Bateman, 42, tells PEOPLE with a laugh.

Just saw a trailer at the movies last weekend where a new movie is coming out with Jason Bateman and Ryan Renyolds. It looks really cute. Jason plays a married dad, and Ryan is the “cad.” They wish to switch lives, and they do. Looks funny, plus two hot guys in a movie – can’t go wrong with that!

@Sunny: if you look closely at Jason’s hands and Francesca’s pants, their outlines are totally perfect. It looks like his hand is just sitting on top of her shirt. There are also no wrinkles or indents in the fabric on the back of Francesca’s pants. If this was not an altered photograph there would be gathering. Its not like its that ridiculous of a thing. This hand could be from the very next image on the disk. Maybe the previous image was too hot and couldn’t be used. This happens all the time in photography.

ELO; you’re totally wrong! Anyone can see that his hand is just where there is a slit in her tunic – hence nu bunching or gathering, so there’s NO photoshop what so ever!!
