Giada De Laurentiis Loved Girls’ Week in N.Y.C. with Jade

Gary Gershoff/WireImage

For Giada De Laurentiis, the best way to celebrate Mother’s Day was a girls’ week in the Big Apple with her daughter Jade Marie.

“She’s 3 years old,” the TV chef told PEOPLE at the Operation Smile gala Thursday in New York. “It’s at the time where everything is so fantastic and exciting for her, so I thought it would be really fun to spend Mother’s Day week here, just she and I.”

De Laurentiis, 40, brought Jade to the Today Show on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. “She’s going to be a pro,” De Laurentiis laughs.

It’s been a chance for Jade to understand what her mother does when she goes to work, De Laurentiis explains, and she’s already getting the TV bug.

Cat Cora Copes with ‘Mommy Guilt’ In Writing

Courtesy Dial Press

With a successful career and expanding empire, Iron Chef Cat Cora has traveled the world, but her frequent trips have left one fan less than thrilled — 7-year-old son Zoran.

Before one such excursion, Cora and the eldest of her four boys came up with a new tradition, in which mom would take one of Zoran’s toys along with her so he knew she’d always be thinking of him.

The experience inspired Cora to pen her first children’s book, A Suitcase Surprise for Mommy, in stores now.

“It was one particular trip that he really didn’t want me to go, and I was really trying to figure out how to soothe him and myself as well because I was having a lot of mommy guilt,” Cora, 44, told PEOPLE.

Angelina Jolie: My Kids Don’t Think I’m Cool

Samir Hussein/Empics Entertainment/Abaca

Jack Black and his character, panda bear Po, crack up the Jolie-Pitt kids – but mom Angelina Jolie can’t seem to catch a break.

“They know when Mommy’s funny and when Mommy’s not funny,” the Kung Fu Panda 2 star, 35, tells USA Today. “They’ll sit in a room and say, ‘That’s just not funny.’”

Jolie’s kids – Maddox, 9½, Pax, 7, Zahara, 6, Shiloh, 5 this month, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 2½ — became “part agents, part managers” for the actress, she says, and proved their understanding of the industry on set of the Panda sequel, which arrives in theaters May 26.

Their opinions keep her “competitive,” she adds, even if they would rather hang with costar Black. “I tell them, ‘I know you like [panda] Po,’” she said. “‘But come on – Mom’s cool too, right?’”

BumpWatch: Jessica Alba – Meter Maid

Splash News Online

Flowers, flowers, everywhere!

An expectant Jessica Alba is in full bloom Thursday, checking her parking meter before running errands in West Hollywood, Calif.

For the actress, 30, welcoming a sibling for daughter Honor Marie, who turns 3 next month, with husband Cash Warren, is much less stressful than her first pregnancy.

“With Honor, I was constantly like, ‘Is she moving? Is her heart beating?’ I’d worry about everything and with this baby, I don’t have the same anxieties,” she shared.

La La Anthony: Homemade Mother’s Day Gifts Are the Best

Humberto Carreno/Startraks

La La Vazquez Anthony has her own VH1 reality show and is married to Carmelo Anthony, one of the best players in the NBA, but the TV personality says to forget expensive jewels — her ideal Mother’s Day includes a simple, homemade card from 4-year-old son, Kiyan.

“Usually my husband and my son will make a homemade card for me and that means more than a gift,” she says. “I remember one year they did a video together for me on his computer and that’s the kind of stuff you keep forever.”

Anthony, 31, who recently relocated to Manhattan when her husband was traded to the Knicks, also has her fingers crossed for a weekend getaway with her two main men.

This Mother’s Day, you can bet Brooke Burke‘s not doing the dishes!

Her fiancé, actor David Charvet, has a relaxing day planned for the Dancing With the Stars host and mother of four.

“I’ll go to the fish market early in the morning,” he told PEOPLE at the Operation Smile gala Thursday in New York. “Come back with whole branzinos, and cook a barbecue.”

Both Burke and Charvet’s mothers, along with his sister and her kids, are coming over to their house for a big, afternoon barbecue.

“My favorite fish, my favorite meal, and I don’t have to cook,” Burke, 39, said. “None of the women have to cook or do the dishes.”
