The pair are also parents to Thatcher, 2, and Nash, 21 months, and were pregnant simultaneously.

But despite all the activity, she says her main focus is going forward with her adoption plans.

“I’m in the midst of the adoption process at the moment,” Michaels, 37, told PEOPLE at the American Society of Magazine Editors awards on Monday. “It is an incredibly long process.”

Michaels confirms that she’s applied to adopt from the Democratic Republic of Congo in a new pilot program. “I’m terrified that [the country] will close, so I just keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best and give it to God.”

Lisa Loeb Gets More Sleep As a Mom Than As a Musician

Fame

Many new moms complain about sleep deprivation, but such is the opposite for ladies like Lisa Loeb.

Since shifting the focus from her career to taking care of her 17-month-old daughter Lyla Rose, Loeb says she’s ironically getting more sleep as a mom than she did when she was primarily a musician.

“I’m the person who would normally stay up until 3 in the morning and sleep until 9 in the morning,” Loeb, 43, tells PEOPLE.

“But now with the baby, it’s super early to bed. It’s a little bit of a challenge to try to balance my work with my family, but my family comes first.”
