Joey McIntyre’s Song Choice Caused Him to Spill the Beans

Life truly imitated art for Joey McIntyre when he took the stage to sing “Soliloquy” from Carousel during New Kids on the Block’s Carnival cruise.

Having stated he would not be spilling the beans about the sex of his third child with wife Barrett, the singer couldn’t resist temptation after the reality of the lyrics set in.

“The lyrics in that song were at [the] time too much to convey, but it felt so good to go through it all with you,” McIntyre — whose daughter is due May 31 – writes on his personal blog.

“In the song he sings about a son, but then realizes it could be a girl … and then basically turns to mush and suddenly is determined to do everything he can to make sure she has all that she deserves in life.”

Already dad to sons Griffin Thomas, 3½, and Rhys Edward, 17 months, McIntyre “always wanted to sing” the song while awaiting the arrival of a baby girl — and fortunately, his dream finally came true.

“Sure enough the big director in the sky set it all up for me,” he explains. “I was ready to tell everyone that indeed I am going to be the daddy of a little girl.”

Describing the moment he revealed the news as “a perfect ending to it all,” McIntyre isn’t quite as confident when it comes to his daughter’s big debut.

“Barrett doesn’t think the baby is gonna come this week and so that means I will be rushing home from the tour,” he shares. ”Hopefully it will be on a day off. I am not gonna miss a show. Daddy’s got a job and he’s blessed to have one. My little girl is gonna come when she is supposed to and I just have to roll with it.”

After all, he jokes, “Lord know I’m never gonna be able to control her, so why should I start out thinking I can now?”

I don’t like his filthy mouth on Twitter. he needs to watch what he says. if he’s having a girl. little girls cry alot if they says anything a bout a boy, a girl’s world wants everything to be girl. even their dolls, i know a family and they had 2 boys and one girl and the girl was playing with some of my cousins toys and she made the boy babies , girl babies, and i was telling her that they were boys, that just proves what i’m saying. Joe McIntyre needs to refrain him self from saying the word “penis” to a little girl, little girls cry at that, al most all of them do, i think Joe’s not ready for a girl. he needs to watch his mouth and just not say stuf like that on twitter cause it’s offending me alot.

Adele … WHAT?! you’re so not making ANY sense. I have never known a little girl to cry at the word penis. Why would she?! Besides, the Joe on Twitter? Is his celebrity persona. It is not who he really is. It’s the NKOTB Joe not the Family Man Joe. The Family Man Joe is who the REAL fans who get added to his REAL twitter get to see.

And just so you know, Joe reads this site and blogs about it. So I really am hoping he sees this and blogs about it.

I was on the cruise when Joe announced the soon arrival of his baby girl, one of my favorite moments of the cruise. One of my ultimate moments was watching “Broadway Joe” perform, especially when he sang “Soliloquy” from Carousel. Congrats Joe and Barrett! I have two girls of my own and you are blessed to have two beautiful boys and a beautiful little girl! All the best to you!

A few F bombs here and there does not make someone a bad father, you don’t know him, or how he is. No one knows what he is like at home, and I don’t question at all what kind of father he is. Obviously you’ve never heard him speak about his children. They’re his world.

Adele, don’t drink a ton of booze and then post comments!

I don’t agree with his not being able to control her, he should until she is old enough to do it herself! Why do guys freak out so much about girls? Yeah, daddy’s little girl when young, but keep it going even thru puberty, keep the closeness going instead of freaking out about all the changes in their “little girl”. I hope YOU get your ass home when she decides to come into this world. Your job will still be there after her arrival, trust me!! I doubt you have anything to worry about.

Adele is the one who leaves nonsensical messages on the phone number you can call for NKOTB. Every single day. Message after message of random thoughts. I personally *LOVE* his potty mouth.

Anyway, I’m really happy for Joe & Barrett. I kind of had a suspicion when he was singing that song on the cruise. He was getting pretty emotional about it. She is going to be one spoiled little girl! None of us know “family man” Joe personally, but from what we’ve seen, he’s a great daddy.

Adele, sounds like you’re the only crying over his use of the word “penis”, if I was even able to interpret what you were trying to say correctly. Firstly, I doubt his infant daughter will be reading his twitter any time in the next 10 years, if EVER, so let it go. Secondly, why would a little girl cry over hearing the word “penis” unless she was taught the word has a negative connotation? If that’s the case, I’d imagine her parents are probably doing the same with female genital anatomy, which is obviously not doing the poor kid any favors when it comes to teaching how to have a healthy body image. I’d hate to see what kind of emotional trauma she’ll suffer the first time she menstruates.

Adele, please take this kindly because I mean it kindly, if you were not on something when you wrote that, then please invest in an English class so that you can do a better job of communicating your thoughts in a coherent way. I actually dont think you were on anything, I think your writing skills just need work.

Additionally, I think Joe comes across as a really loving father. I dont think him cursing on twitter (and if it offends you, dont read it) has anything to do with the man he is at home. Also, why would a little girl cry at the word penis? Penis is an anotomically correct word for a body part. There is no reason that the mere mention of the word should upset anyone.
