Following the box office success of last year’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid comes the second installment, Rodrick Rules, which hits theaters nationwide today.

The film’s cute, but “flawed” main character, Greg Heffley, is back again but this time he has to figure out a way to avoid the wrath of his older brother, Rodrick.

We recently chatted with Jeff Kinney, cartoonist and creator of the book series that started it all, about his thoughts on the movie, the characters and more. Check out our interview below:

Constantine Maroulis Introduces Daughter Malena James

Like father, like daughter? Not so for Constantine Maroulis and his 3-month-old daughter Malena James Reed-Maroulis.

A very “proud Greek-American,” the former American Idol alum, 35, admits that growing up with an unusual name often left him with plenty of explaining to do. “I got tortured for my name for years. They called me Dean. To this day they screw up my name, and I didn’t want that to happen to her,” he tells PEOPLE.

Instead, Maroulis looked elsewhere for inspiration and found his answer in the 2000 Italian movie Malena. “I always loved the name. I’m not fond of a lot of Greek female names,” he reveals. “James is my middle name and my father’s name. It just fit.”

Jessica Alba and Reese Witherspoon’s Mommy-Friendly Tote

Splash News Online; Ramey

You know something’s mommy-friendly if you see more than one mom using it. At least, that was our thinking when we spotted both Jessica Alba and Reese Witherspoon carrying Vanessa Bruno‘s sequin canvas tote ($195) while out and about recently.

The stylish bag is roomy enough to fit everything from diapers and wipes to kiddie snacks and toys. Plus, it features a handy zip pocket inside so you can stash all your mommy essentials. And as Alba and Witherspoon prove, it’s super versatile. It looks equally chic with a casual sweater and leggings or a pretty print dress.

Want one? Buy it online at farfetch.com or at the Vanessa Bruno store in West Hollywood (323-655-5300).

Anne Heche and James Tupper Awed By Sons’ Bond

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

Things never seemed to work out for families in Greek myths, so when you name your first son after the epic poet who penned The Illiad, and your second after the mythological Titan who was said to hold up the heavens, you’re tempting the Fates.

It’s a good thing Anne Heche and James Tupper are there to look after their boys, 9-year-old Homer and his little brother Atlas, 2.

It’s even better that the brothers’ idea of a sibling rivalry is to see who can dote over the other more.

“The two are having an incredible bond right now,” Heche, 41, tells PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of the HBO movie His Way. “They already look out for each other.”
