John Henson Welcomes Son Jackson Wright

Wipeout co-host John Henson and his wife, comedienne Jill Benjamin, have welcomed their first child, Henson’s rep confirms to PEOPLE.

Son Jackson Wright Henson was born in a Los Angeles hospital on Monday, March 7. The new arrival weighed 7 lbs., 11 oz. and measured 22 inches long.

“Mom, dad and baby are happy and healthy,” says a rep for Henson.

In fact, Henson, 43, tells PEOPLE, “I love watching him laugh. There is nothing better than a spit take with breast milk!”

Henson and Benjamin had been preparing for Jackson’s arrival by decorating his nursery in a circus theme akin to their wedding reception theme.

“It seemed logical for us to carry that circus theme over to the nursery,” Henson says, “because, as we like to say, we took our love and made a person out of it, so we want the child to grow up with that kind of sense of fun and imagination.”

I love the name, Jackson Wright is so handsome. The only thing I dislike is the double -son in the name, but I am a baby name fanatic so I’m probably being just picky.

Congratulations anyway to the couple and baby! Baby news is always so exciting and a lovely thing to hear :)

well thank god they didn’t ask you for naming considerations. or for my kids either. what a jerk, making comments about a person’s name.

I agree Jeannette M. I think the name is great, but my first thought was JackSON HenSON. A little too much SON.
Chances are he’ll be called Jack anyway.

Congrats to the Hensons!

I don’t really give a damn about what you think, Lika. This is a comments section, where you comment on an article. It’s not like I said “OMG I HATE THAT NAME ITS SO TACKY AND HORRIBLE THEY SHOULD NAME IT THIS.” No, I said that I find both names to be lovely and handsome and mentioned what I dislike about it.

Not everyone had to kiss ass to be polite, you know. And I really couldn’t be bothered about what you named your kids. I have an opinion, I stated it in a polite, articulate way, which is more than can be said for you.

Does anyone else think his wife looks a bit like a healthy Tori Spelling? Great name! I like that hey both have J names and carried that on with their son. Congratulations to you both!

I love the name Jackson.

I agree with the ‘-son’, kinda trips the tounge. But since he’ll probably be Jack (unless he’s in trouble)… potatoes, potatoes.

dsfg on

Wow, the first and last names definitely do not go together!

I love the name! Plus, I like that they all three start with a J and end with an N :) (John, Jillian & Jackson… how cute!)

Jaedyn on

Correction… her name is Jill :) Still a lovely theme!

Umm, newborns don’t laugh. Infants learn that at about 3 months of age. People disagree on whether they even smile voluntarily or not.

Oh, shut up Lika. She wasn’t rude at all. In fact, she was polite about it. The only rude one here is you. Grow up and stop acting like you know everything.

congrats! we love the name jackson too, but with a last name that ends in -son, i’ve eliminated it from my list. i’m glad i’m not the only one who thinks it’s a bit much. still searching for a great boy name. to each their own – it obviously doesn’t bug them – and it is a beautiful name!!

I love the name Jackson! I kind of agree with others about the double -son in his name, but it’s still a cool name, and one I was considering for if I ever have a son.

Someone on the other thread guessed that they might name him Wright, and they were correct! I thought they might go for Benjamin, to incorporate Mom’s name, too. I absolutely LOVE the name Jackson, though!! It’s in my top 5 for boy names despite it’s popularity.

Congrats to the entire family!

Finally, parents actually married to each other before having children. And that is a great name for the baby, Jackson Henson!

torgster on

@eternalcanadian – what exactly are you implying – that this makes them better parents somehow? Pleeeeeze get with the millenium!

I love the name Jackson. I plan on calling my son (if I have one) Jackson. I hadn’t actually noticed the double ‘son’ in the name until I started reading the comments. Considering I’m pretty fussy with baby names I’m actually surprised I didn’t notice. Must say I agree Jackson Henson doesn’t really go together but each to their own, It’s still a lovely name!

mira, he’s clearly joking. Comedians tend to do that. My mom always joked that she would get so excited when I was a baby because I was ‘smiling’ at her, even though she knew full well it was probably gas. It was her child, so she let her excitement override logic.

“…because, as we like to say, we took our love and made a person out of it, so we want the child to grow up with that kind of sense of fun and imagination.” Awww… I think my heart just grew two sizes.

Jillian on

Thank god they are married, all of the children born this month into families who are not married will not end up happy. That must be it!…shaking my head….rolling my eyes……

freedomthroughfaith on

Nothing wrong with defending God and The Bible where it specifically states that sexual relations is a gift from God…we live in such a backwards world where everything is ok. The Bible is the truth though and someday Christ will return and most people will be thrown into the lake of fire…

I’m happy they’re married and having a baby, it’s a bigger blessing that way and sanctified in God’s eyes, unless they’re unbelievers and then not so much…but still couples being married before procreating is such a rarity, it’s sad.

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
