After keeping her Twitter fans guessing for most of the day, Alyssa Milano revealed her big news — the baby she’s expecting early this fall is a little boy.

“As fun as it was reading all of your gender predictions on Twitter, I’m really bad at keeping secrets and had to share (not to mention, I was bound to unintentionally slip at some point),” the expectant actress, 38, wrote on her Web site Monday evening.

“David and I are elated to announce that we are having a baby boy. We can’t wait to meet him. Boys’ names, anyone?”

Milano and husband David Bugliari wed in August 2009 and announced in February that they were expanding their family.

Aww, congratulations to them! I can’t wait to see what Alyssa and David name their little boy.

I was convinced it was a girl (right up until I started wavering today) because of Charmed! LOL, that show.

Also LOLing at the irony that the Charmed Ones were supposed to have girls, while Holly has three sons and Alyssa is having a son, too.

Josie on

Congrats! I knew it would be a boy!

ELO on

Congratulations! My money was on a boy as well.

aj on

That boy will be beautiful!!
– And I could see them with a son named Tanner!!

Lexie on

Ironic since Alyssa is having a boy and on Charmed she had 3 girls

shannon on

Calling it right now: He’ll be playing Little League baseball as soon as he can walk.

Macy on

I wonder if she has the same naming tastes as her co-star Holly Marie Combs? Her boys are named Riley, Finley and Kelly.

Allison J on

A boy! Too sweet! I had a guessed a girl; looks like I was wrong…

Best wishes to them.

kristina on

I think that the name Jordan David sounds really good.

Nella on

Congrats to Alyssa and her hubby! I don’t know why, but I had a feeling it was going to be a boy!

Shannon on

Congrats to her :)

I do have to say though…does anyone else find it odd that celebs seem to find out the genders pretty early in comparison to the rest of us? I’m due Sept 8th, which IMO is almost as early in fall as you can get. I’m not even 15 weeks, and before 18 weeks its pretty hard to give a guess with any certainty unless you get an amnio or other invasive type testing. I’m not trying to be pessimistic or doubting, but I’m just curious if anyone else has noticed this or has any potential reasoning as to why. (I’m also a little jealous because I have to wait lol)

How can she be due in early fall if she already know the sex of the baby ( which means that she’s probably 4 or 5 month along ) ?? My bet is that she’ll give birth in late August …

Dana on

It’s ironic she is having a boy bc a one character she played years ago had a girl? Seriously?

MariaP on

Congrats. I loved it name Wyatt on Charmed so it could be as an idea

Fatima on

Oh my God, I’m so happy for them!! :) Congratulations! This little boy is going to have the best mommy in the world! :D

First of all, based on the size of her belly I do not think she is due in fall…much more likely late summer. Also, I do not know how it works in the US but here is Canada there are some tests that are done at 12 weeks. These tests include an ultrasound and almost everyone I know (who wanted to know) was able to tell at that ultrasound the sex of the baby. I haven’t heard of any mistakes yet.

Alison on

Alyssa looks so much younger than she is, but she is 38 so I’m sure she’s getting quite a few tests and could tell earlier. The differences in what I got between my first pregnancy at 32 and my second at 37 were crazy. We actually found out the sex of our second child through our chorionic villus sampling rather than ultrasound. I don’t think it’s too far for her to say early fall – it’s probably the first week of September that she’s due.

Jennifer on

Shannon, you can find out the sex of your baby at 16 wks with a 3-D ultrasound. Doctors typically wait til at least 18 weeks, but you can go to an ultrasound boutique that will do it earlier ((obviously for a charge)) but you can find out without having amnio or any invasive testing.

Annie on

A boy! Congrats! :) I was thining boy too.

And, yes, she is definitely due late summer. Nothing else has added up.

crazykraut on

I knew I was having a boy at 14 weeks and 5 days. It was a regular untrasound not 3D

dsfg on

Alison, the first week of September is not early fall, it’s summer.

Celine on

In France, we have a first ultrasound at 10-12 weeks, when you can know the sex if the position of the baby allows it. If not, you’ll wait until the second screening around week 18-20.
What about giving the little angel a typical English first name and then an Italian one? Hope she’ll avoid weird names…

Jaedyn on

Congrats! How about Jaylen David? Her middle name is Jayne, so maybe Jay as a middle name?

Ana on

I too, was convinced it would be a girl (definatley charmed influenced!) but congratulations to them, i bet they are over the moon! wishing alyssa a healthy and happy pregnancy and good luck in choosing a name!

J.J. on

My prediction was wrong as my mind was screaming “baby girl” for them..but CONGRATS ON THEIR NEW LITTLE BOY!!! :D. Can’t wait to hear what they name him! Am sensing it’s something Italianish like Carlos or Salvatore..:)

Angela on

Congrats on her little boy!

I don’t know why people put so much stock into when celebrities say they’re due. They usually say they’re due a little later than their actual due date to throw off the paparazzi.

Taneka on

Congrats! Boys are so much better. I would never want a girl. Too much work and so bratty these days. Boys are way easier. I’m thinking David Jr. because her husband is Italian and it’s common in Italian culture to name a son after his father, which is the way it should be. Always honor your husband!!!

eternalcanadian on

Haha, I had predicted a girl because Alyssa was carrying so high and round. On her Twitter Alyssa says she had CVS testing. I guess at age 38 she was at increased risk for genetic and chromosomal problems.

MiB on

Taneka, you are wrong, the italian naming tradition (which was by no means that wide spread) is to name the first son after the father’s father and the second after the mother’s father. I know plenty of italians named after their grandfathers (and grandmothers if they are girls) but none named after their father. Naming the first son after the father is a very U.S. american tradition.

Nella on

Congrats to them! Wow Taneka, just wow….little rude, I think so! I hope you don’t ever have a daughter because someone with such negative views like yourself shouldn’t raise a daughter after generalizing all little girls.

Taneka on

It’s only natural to want a son over a daughter. daughters are of no use to us as mothers. sons stay with us and care for us in old age.

Taneka, you sound positively medieval, delusional and frightening. I feel very sorry for your kids, if you have them!

Jillian on

Taneka, Huh? You are a troll…..clear as day. But I am bored, so I will respond.

Italians do not name their children after the father. It is actually very rare to see a child named jr if using traditional Italian naming.

Taneka, you would never want a girl? What would happen if you had one? Would you give it away? Be mean to it, since she would be “a brat.” “daughters are of no use.” Well, I guess you are of no use…..you shouldn’t have been born.

Taneka on

If I was to have a daughter I wouldn’t be happy but I would raise her up like a proper woman of God should do. I think my womanly duties to my husband would be failed though as he requires a namesake. We only been married 2.5 years but i know he tells me everyday that he better have a boy and i know it makes sense.

Nella on

“daughters are of no use to us as mothers. sons stay with us and care for us in old age. ”

Taneka What world do you live in!There are some sons that do take care of their parents, but not all! I’ve met plenty of men that pretty much forget their parents ever exist once they get older, so spare me your stupid theory. That totally depends on people, not gender.

Taneka on

Jillian, I am a Queen…a Goddess…I most definitely belong here. I just think that a womanis meant to worship and honor the man she marries and give him sons.

Ryan on

Taneka, you are a very sad, pathetic person.

Jillian on

Thanks for making me laugh Taneka. I don’t believe a word you are spewing. You are hear for a reaction. I will enjoy reading the humor. Keep it coming….

KRS on

Oh, Tameka is GODDESS – now I understand. One of Charlie Sheen’s by chance?

Angela on

I am so happy for Alyssa and her husband. All the best to them and their baby boy.
@Tameka, what era are you from? Futhermore, it’s actually the man who decides the gender of the baby since he is the only with the chromosome to give to make the baby male. So it’s not a woman’s duty to give a man sons, if the guy wants sons then he better make damn sure that his sperm have a Y chromosome.

Em on

Taneka, do the world a favor, do not procreate! Your views are insane! No good parent would ever say such a thing. Shame on you! Children are blessing that not everyone is able to have. There are also some who should be sterilized before they ever get a chance to have them! What parent can look in to the face of their own beautiful child (boy or girl)and wish they had never been born? Lord knows we can do without more misogynistic men. It seems like this would be the type of men you would raise. So sad.

Celine on

@Em : well said!

@Taneka : poor little thing. Your life must really be sad… Hope your son (if you ever have one) turns his back on your insane family and lives a happy and healthy life. And as for a daughter, I really hope your wish will be granted ans you’ll never have one, because the poor little girl can only end up damaged after a being told her only purpose in life is to serve a man.

I think you actually don’t need children. You need an orgasm. A big one. Get a vibrator!

Amanda on

Omg, taneka stupid

JrzeeGal on

CONGRATULATIONS! Wishing Alyssa, David and their family all the best. Love the name Milo Thomas! xoxoxo
