Madeline Comes Stateside in New Book

If you didn’t grow up reading Madeline books, chances are your children did.

The whimsical stories, written and illustrated by Ludwig Bemelmans, followed petite Parisian Madeline and her classmates as they walked “in two straight lines” throughout the French city.

In the series’ latest installment, Madeline at the White House ($18), Bemelmans’ grandson, John Bemelmans Marciano (below), brings the little girls to Washington, D.C., where they visit the lonely daughter of the U.S. President at the White House on Easter.

Nicole Kidman ‘Desperately’ Wanted Another Child

There are some things that come easily for Nicole Kidman – for instance her ability to tap into a character when the cameras are rolling. But when it comes to motherhood, the Oscar winner — and current best actress nominee — says there is something she has always struggled with.

The mother of four, who just welcomed baby Faith Margaret on Dec. 28 via a gestational carrier, says she has “had a roller coaster ride with fertility.”

“Anyone that’s been in the place of wanting another child or wanting a child knows the disappointment, the pain and the loss that you go through trying and struggling with fertility,” the Rabbit Hole actress, 43, tells Australia’s 60 Minutes in an interview that aired Sunday night.

Matt Damon Feels ‘Very Lucky’ With Life He Chose

Despite the twists and turns of life, Matt Damon is exactly where he wants to be.

“I’m very lucky. Right now, I’m at a place in my life where I feel completely on the right path,” the actor tells Access Hollywood.

Having recently celebrated his 40th birthday with wife Luciana and their four daughters Alexia, 12, Isabella, 4½, Gia Zavala, 2½, and Stella Zavala, 4 months, Damon proudly admits he has reached a sense of stability that allows him to treasure the finer moments in life.

“All of those bigger kind of questions have been answered for me, so now it’s just about enjoying living the life that I have chosen and I love that,” he says.

Model mama Karolína Kurková brought husband Archie Drury and their son Tobin Jack, 15 months, along to Tuesday’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2011 at Lincoln Center in New York City.

Joking that she has transformed into “this powerful mama who can deal with anything, do everything,” Kurková, 26, is ready to tackle it all.

“I take care of the house, I cook, I work, I walk the runway.”
