Congratulations to Christine (rojo caliente) and Cynthia. Thank you ladies for keeping it a secret, so refreshing, nice not to have to read all the opinions about the pregnancy for 5/6 months, just boom, we had a baby hope this starts a trend ๐Ÿ™‚

What fantastic news!!! Love them!!! Many congratulations to the beautiful couple!!!

CelebBabyLover on

Congrats to them! And to those that asked, no, they didn’t make a pregnancy announcement. ๐Ÿ™‚ On another note, at the risk of sounding totally weird…Does anyone know whether fertility treatments tend to result in boys more often than girls? I’m asking because it seems like so many of the gay and lesbian couples in Hollywood who have kids have boys. Clay Aiken has a son, Elton John has a son, Cat Cora has FOUR sons, and now Cynthia and Christine have a son.

The only gay/lesbian celebs I can think of who have daughters are Neil Patrick Harris (who also has a son, but I didn’t include him in the count because he has boy/girl twins rather than twin sons or a single son) and Tori Spelling’s “guncles”.

I’m not implying that there’s anything wrong with boys. Just honestly curious if fertility treatments (which obviously gay and lesbian couples have to undergo in order to concieve!) result in boys more often than they do girls.

Congratulations to a wonderful couple, love the name!

A happy occasion that should have happened when they were younger…they’re both going to be in their mid-SIXTIES!! when Max is TEN!! not much fun having old ladies for mommies…

samantha on

as I previously wrote, it’s a shame that Max is going to be ten and his Mommies are going to be in their mid-SIXTIES!! It DOES make a difference to the child, I know..being over middle age and having a baby isn’t thinking of the child..it’s being selfish…

Rosalie on

Samantha i think you need to do a recount, they will be in their 50’s when Max is ten!

Jill on

Fertility treatments have nothing to do with gender….Many non gay/lesbian couples have done/do them as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

In regards to more boys being born, according to this article- http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2010/s3024598.htm?site=wheatbelt – it depends on the treatment. IVF seems to result in a greater ratio of boys but other treatments may result in more girls.

CelebBabyLover on

Rosalie- Exactly! Cynthia and Christine will actually be 54 and 53 respectively when Max is ten. And perhaps he’ll love having older mothers. Who knows?

samantha on

Rosalie, et al…50’s is NOT a time to be raising a young child, ideally…Energy levels and activity just goes downhill after 40..and that’s THE TRUTH!! (ask any of the older celebrity parents these days and they’ll tell you how they couldn’t do it without the help of a nannie or an au pair…)
I guess it depends on if parents want to raise their children by themselves or with help..
Nonetheless, I AM happy for both these women..I love that they have each other and want to share their love with a child…there’s NO GREATER LOVE than that of a mother for her child…

Jgirl on

I agree Samantha, “thereโ€™s NO GREATER LOVE than that of a mother for her child”. With that said, they already have children. Why not just love eachother and the children they already have?

Not ideal at all, in my opinion.

to Samantha on

maybe your energy level…. hahaha.
Samantha, no matter what age, having children is always selfish so that’s not a good argument.

Congrats to the two, that is for sure exciting!

Karen on

Yeah, I agree Samantha, that’s a bit old for me to have a newborn!? I can see they want their own child, but no thank you to waking up in the middle of the night at that age….I’ll be sleeping in at that age myself!!!

Amy V on

What the heck? I’m confused, she has two kids with a guy and then decides she is gay? so how did Christine get pregnant? confused.

just me on

It’s pretty common for women who identify as lesbians to have hetero relationships prior to gay ones. So yes, she had male lovers before, just like the majority of lesbian women.

I’m really glad for them, and so thankful not to see a bunch of hate about a lesbian couple raising a child–I’m kind of relieved that the biggest concern seems to be about their age.

CelebBabyLover on

Amy V- just me already did a good explaining about her previous hetro relationship, but as for how Christine got pregnant, most likely they used a sperm donor and had artificial insemination. A lot of lesbian couples use that method to have children.

KARISHA on

congrats on your new family..may god bless u and yours!!! i love sex in the city..u two ladies look every HAPPY!!! LOVE IT!! ๐Ÿ™‚

J.J. on

What’s wrong with having a baby in your 40’s? It was always like that since the beginning..why is it a issue? They want a baby, so they deserve one. And plus many people who had older moms said they loved it and never thought of them being “old”. They just enjoyed them :p. Btw…Cynthia looks much older than she is..no offense..she looks 50ish when she’s only 44 :p

Jill on

Amy, with the few gay and lesbians I know that were married in heterosexual relationships, they always knew they were gay but didn’t act upon it because of fear. Fear of how they would live a life as a gay person in society and with their family. I have one cousin who I am pretty positive is gay and he is married to his wife. I don’t think he would ever come out because of fear. I feel bad for him and others.

Jana on

I am responding to all the negative comments about Christine and Cynthia’s ages-my mother was 43 when she had me and I have three older siblings. My brothers are almost 60 and 56 and my sister is going to be 58. I am going to be 40 in 2 weeks. I can tell you from my perspective that it absolutely sucked during the era I grew up in (the 70s and 80s) to have my mom be as old as the grandparents of my peers. However in this day and age mothers of this age are more than commonplace and I myself had another child at 36 so I have my kids 15 years apart. Now I look at the age of my parents with great pride because I got to grow up entirely differently than others my age and I see things with perhaps an old fashioned perspective that I value. Their baby has two loving mommies-how wonderful is that?

Monica P on

I think it is very rude to state such an opinion as they “should have” done this when they were younger. People are having children well into their forties and the thought that people can be so judgmental and insensitive is appalling. They have a new child. Kudos to them for growing their family and their union. ๐Ÿ™‚ Gosh, what are you saying about Celine, Halle, and Kelly (who will be almost 60 when her baby is 10 and probably in better shape than most)? Some people truly need a filter. I understand an opinion is just that, an opinion, but to share negativity is really uncalled for. That’s my opinion. Congratulations to the new parents!
