I don’t know why but this picture makes me feel sad for Harlow. I think because I remember when my baby brother was born and how pampered he was. Just reminds me of that period where mom always doted over him and I kind of straggled behind unnoticed. I’m sure she is well-loved though as all kids are! I am not at all saying they are neglectful of Harlow, just saying something about this reminded me of being little and kind of getting a bit thrown to the side for the younger siblings. :( Ahhhh memories!

Becca on

Wow doesn’t seem like 17 months since he was born? Has totally flown! But time always does! My baby Francesca is nearly 10 months and that seems mad too :)

Rachel on

Her kids are sooo cute!! I don’t see it that way. I think Harlow is just an independant little girl, who probably didn’t want to hold mom’s hand anyways. Sorry you went through that Ali. I am the oldest of 3, only girl. I never felt that way when my brothers came along. I guess everyone is different! Sweet family, though.

Lisa on

This is one of my favorite families. Look at Sparrow’s curls and look at little Ms. Harlow. Both kids are so cute. It is amazing to see Nicole do such a 180 with her life. And I love her and Joel as a couple. They seem like very hands on parents.

Jgirl on

Cute family. I agree, Nicole and Joel seem to be completely hands on, the way it should be. Cute kids, and cute mommy! I love her style!

Rosy on

Those kids and there mum are absolutely beautiful. GORGEOUS children, so proud of Nicole for changing her life completely. She is doing so well and her kids seem very happy. Also, LOVE their little outfits.

rita on

Jgirl, so true about Nicole being hands-on, she seems like a very devoted mom. Sure, she may have a nanny or someone to help when she is working, but when she is with her kids she seems to be there for them 100% — a lot like Jen Garner.

kittenbomb on

My favorite celeb family. Look at Sparrow’s little Batman shirt and Harlow’s hairbow! They always look comfy but fashionable!

MariaP on

The cutest kids. BTW on the other sites there are more pictures of Nicole holding Harlow’s hand.

Brooklyn on

What a cute picture!

Mommy of 2 on

so cute!!! is it just me or does it seem like sparow is tall?? he looks like he is almost the same height as harlow?? they are both too adorable, and i just love seeing photos of them!

Leah on

Actually a nanny was there, of course the the picture CBB chose the nanny is cropped out. Is Nicole a less hands on mother since her nanny was there…please!

Leah on

I saw Sparrow’s shirt at my local Target for $8 in size 12 mos-5T… at least one that looks dead on like that. Humbling to know that they shop at the same local stores that most of us do.

They have limited sizes online still.

jessicad on

Ali I totally understand that, my brother came along 17 months after me and I was so jealous and apparently would scream at my Mom when she nursed or held him:) We are best friends now though! We see a ton of pics of Nicole and Joel out with Harlow alone so hopefully she’s not going through what we did haha.

bevvie on

So cute and sweet!

LPW on

Adorable family!

Julie on

Where are the kid’s hats? It is irresponsible not to have them on.

Naomi on

Everything about this picture, and this family, is gorgeous!

Siera on

Julie, clearly with the clothes they are wearing it was not weather appropriate for them to wear hats, plus its California.

Jill on

Julie, why is it irresponsible to not have a hat on? Because they are not fashionable? The weather was not hat weather on Saturday.

Ali on

Thanks Rachel & Jessica!

Yeah, I honestly wasn’t trying to make it seem like Harlow was being neglected in ANY way. I just was remembering how left out I felt as a little kid once my baby brother was born.

I think it was more so me being too attached to my parents and them not being able to give me the time they used to because of the baby…home videos of that period are HILARIOUS. I always looked like a miserable child when lil’ brother was around! haha!

Times have changed…love my brother. Had a fab childhood too. Something about Harlow just reminded me of ME. I love this family! They are adorable!

Jacqui on

Aw, Ali. I know what you mean! Thanks for sharing that!

Julie on

Well obviously I am not talking winter hats. if I lived in California I would be worried about year round exposure to the sun and if you take children hiking their skin is vulnerable to the sun and the hole in the ozone layer even on cloudy days. I hoped she used sunscreen.

CelebBabyLover on

Jill and Siera- I think what Julie was getting at is that Nicole is wearing a hat but Harlow and Sparrow aren’t. I agree with you two completely, though! And for what it’s worth, my guess is that Nicole is wearing her hat for fashion, not warmth!

Leah- I saw the picture with the “nanny” too. I wonder if she’s actually a nanny, though? She could just as easily be a friend of Nicole’s. :)

Anyway, the kids are adorable! Sparrow looks like Joel and Harlow like Nicole!

Jill on

Nope CBl…..wrong. She was worried about the sun. You don’t have to answer for people, just let them respond!! :)

And Julie, that was not obvious…..as many people in CA, including myself, where hats for warmth. I live in CA and can assure you, you don’t need to worry about sun exposure and sunscreen daily.

Shirelle on

Harlow and Sparrow are so cute

Lady on

They are just toooo adorable, love this family!!

Sam on

@ Jill – good post, I’ve been trying to think of a way to say that first part of your post for over a year now.

These two little ones are adorable and beyond. I too feel a bit sorry for Harlow here but there ARE many pictures of Harlow being held and cuddled out there. This one looks like she was just in her own little girl world trapesing along. It’s the old Brittny/Jaden/Sean I think more about….

Shannon on

Cute kids. I wonder if her children will embrace their curls or prefer to straighten their hair like Nicole does. She had the cutest curls as a little girl.

SuzyQ on

Hey Sam, you rock and I understand completely where you are coming from. I don’t even post here regularly, but it’s pretty irritating to see this (putting words in people’s mouths) when I scan through the comments and it’s also rather insulting to the other posters.

Jill on

Thanks! It annoys me. I hate when people speak for me and I hate when people speak for someone else. We are all adults and no one can guess what the poster is thinking. So instead of trying to assume…..just let it be and let them reply and speak for themselves. If the poster doesn’t respond then we will never know and trust me…..we will all live. If I wanted to know what the rest of you thought, I would ask.

Mia on

The 2 kids look alot alike-cute!

CelebBabyLover on

The reason I sometimes “speak for people” is because a lot of times, someone will comment and then not come back to the post. So I figure I may as well try to explain what they were trying to say for anyone who might be confused. :)

suzyq on

Give people enough credit to come to their own conclusions. If anyone is confused, they will say so and that would be the time to speculate.

Sarah S. on

The kids are soo adorable–I love their curly hair!! My son had a Batman shirt just like that when he was little…(sniffle) I miss those days.

Jill on

CBL, If you can come to a conclusion on your own…SO CAN WE. Since you don’t know what they are thinking you make things more confusing. And if the person doesn’t come back, we will survive :) :) :)

JAE on

I actually enjoy CBL. :) Not everyone wants to and/or has the time to post 10+ times on an article, back and forth arguing with somebody so I think it’s nice she stands up for people that don’t wanna do that.

jessicad on

CBL is probably the nicest poster here, you guys are absolutely ridiculous and rude.

Kim on

It doesn’t look like they are going on a hike, Nicole’s shoes are hardly made for extended walking in mountainous terrain! lol As for the hat issue its not only hot sun rays you have to worry about, my sons daycare makes them wear a hat every single day no matter the season, outside. UV rays in overcast weather can be just as bad!

Jill on

jessicad, I am entitled to my opinion and did it tastefully. Unlike you. Calling people ridiculous and rude for stating an opinon.

JAE, I hear what you are saying, that not everyone has the time. But I would rather hear from the person or not at all….that is my take on it. I don’t need a third person’s opinion who knows nothing on the matters opinon…..In this case, she was wrong. So why even guess? Just let it go. It makes her sound like “a know it all.”

We are not the only people to have said this….I have seen probably 5 to 10 people over the last few weeks say the same thing. It gets quite frustrating when you go on on a post and she swoops in summarizing and answering all of the questions. That is my opinon. If you don’t like it……oh well!

shalay on

I see people’s comments get misconstrued all the time, and each time CBL has clarified what they meant, it’s been extremely helpful to others. I agree, she’s one of the nicest people on these boards.

Jill on

Everyone……please read……NEVER SAID SHE WAS NOT NICE!!!

What I said was that I don’t like when she tries to guess what people are thinking. She tries to “clarify” and many times is wrong and comes off as a “know it all.” It rubs people the wrong way….this doesn’t mean she is not a nice person….it has nothing to do with what type of person she is inside. It is the type of person that comes out on the screen.

dsfg on

If you think she’s nice, then why be mean to her? If someone annoys you a little, is it really worth being rude to them?

suzyq on

“…ridiculous and rude…” GMAB!!! Jill shouldn’t have to explain herself over and over again. You disagree with her, fine. Move on and (gasp!), why not post a comment pertaining to Nicole Richie’s Happy Hikers.

Jill on

dsfg, i have every right to express myself on here. i am a vocal person. it annoys me and i said it. and i will say it everytime it happens. why? because i can…..and because everyone else on here can say something when someonething bothers them. if someone doesn’t like a comment they say it is rude. i am a nice person and i have had rude things said to me….but i don’t care. i am a big girl. and i can take it. if i couldn’t take it, i wouldn’t be posting on a public blog. I didn’t think there was anything “rude” about my post. You do. I think her approach is “rude.”

suzyq, thanks for being a sound of reason.

dsfg on

Jill, you have the right to say whatever you want on here, nice or not. And I have the right to say you are rude and that your rudeness is unnecessary.

In fact, in the last week or so, I have noticed that all your posts have been rude and/or hostile. I hope everything is okay.

Jill on

dsfg, I never “questioned” your intentions. And not that it is any of your business, but I am fine. Side note, there is more than one Jill on this site. She was just on another post “yelling” at a poster. So unless you can be sure which one is posting, don’t blame me for another persons flaws. I would LOVE to modify my name, but I can’t get it to change.
