Tia Mowry: Baby on the Way Is a Boy

02/04/2011 at 09:00 AM ET

Tia Mowry is taking bets on the sex of her baby — and it seems as though family and friends have guessed correctly.

“Everyone has been saying, ‘Boy! Boy! Boy!’ just by the way I’ve been carrying,” The Game star, 32, tells Access Hollywood. “No one has said a girl. So I can’t wait to find out who’s inside!”

Looks like they were right! Husband Cory Hardrict told Just Jared that the pair will welcome a son this July — and Mowry is ready to put her own twist on tradition.

After being raised with siblings whose names all began with the letter ‘T,’ the actress is searching elsewhere in the alphabet for inspiration. “Actually, we’re looking at ‘C’ [names] — for Cory,” Mowry explains.

Lyndsay on

Why not just choose a name that you love? …it doesnt have to start with a C for Cory or a T for Tia…people should start thinking outside of the box when it comes to naming their child and just choose a name they adore regardless with what letter it starts with

I WISH HER AND THE FAMILY LOTS OF LUCK TAMERA WAS ON WENDY WILLIAMS LAST NIGHT AND I JUST LOVE THE VIBES OF THE TWO OF THEM. THEY SEEM TO BE SUCH POSITIVE PEOPLE AND HAVE MANAGED TO STAY POSITIVE DURING THEIR CAREERS. I LOVE THE WHOLE KLAN AND I WISH THEM MUCH LOVE AND MANY BLESSINGS ON THE START OF THEIR OWN GENERATION. IM EXCITED TO SEE THAT BEAUTIFUL BOY WHEN HE’S BORN. I SAY AN INDEPENDENCE DAY BABY!!!!1
JULY 4TH…

Ryan on

I agree Lyndsay. I think it’s better to give a child a name that is their OWN and is unique and individual.

Kathy on

Just choose a name you love no matter on what it begins with…..C may be the best choice for them and i wish them well. They’ll know if its right or not especially once they meet their son.

LINDSEY, REALLY? YOU CAME ON TO NEGATIVELY SPEA ABOUT HER AND HER HUSBAND WANTING TO NAME THEIR CHILD WITH A PRTICULAR LETTER? PLEASE HONEY GO BACK TO WHATEVER YOU WERE DOING, B/C WHETHER THE NAME STARTS WITH T,B,H,L,P,CCCCCCC ITS GOING TO BE SOMETHING THEY LIKE AND CAN STAND CALLING FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFES..
I SAY CADEN.

J on

I think they are trying to find a name that suits them and they adore, Lyndsay. :)

Indigo on

I like Connor!

Jill on

Who says that aren’t going to love the name AND that it will begin with C?

Luna on

A lot of families I’ve known who do a letter theme do it because they feel it brings a sense of family connection. I know one family that the father wanted a junior and the mother compromised with matching initials. One family I know gave their first born the same first initial as the father. When they had another baby, they didn’t want her to feel left out so she got the same first initial. They ended up having four kids and gave them all the same first initial.

I like Carson, Cayden, Cade, Cameron, Cooper, and Carter for their last name.

Mom Of Twins on

Good luck to them, in whatever name they choose. For first time parents, it may take a little long in picking out a name for you baby.

Mommy of 2 on

awe so happy for them!! It seems like alot of celebs are having boys lately! I also did “c” names for my two kids, a boy named Caleb and a girl named Cheyenne. I love it and if its want they want then that is what matters!!! Best of luck to them!!!

Lady on

Oh gosh, who cares if they want C names…it’s their kid…stop with the negativity!! Love her & her hubby….+ The Game is my favorite show…blessings Tia!

Shannon on

There are so many cute C names for boys. Can’t wait to see the little one and hear the name. Congrats Tia and Cory!

Cornelius-but I’m biased being a huge Chris Cornell fan-LOL.

rose on

Charles, Cameron, Christopher, Cephas or Jameson. ;)

Sarah S. on

What a beautiful color dress this is on her! My 10 1/2 daughter loves her and her sister in the “Twitches” movies!!

Shirelle on

Congrats to them! I was secretly hoping for twins :(

For some, zeroing in on a particular letter of the alphabet actually eases the name search, and perhaps neither of them currently have a name that they both adore so much it MUST be the choice.

Relax, just because you do it one way does not mean that how another couple chooses to go about naming their baby should turn your crank the wrong way. It’s not your kid, it’s not your name.

clair on

I’m clair my sister is caroline, and my cousins are catherine and christine. It wasn’t planned, our parents must have just liked those names beginning with ‘c’

tlm on

Luna … I think the last name is pretty well set. Did you mean first name??

Scooby on

There’s nothing wrong with a little family tradition in names..s Maybe they only like names that start with C…

Mandy on

I think that is preety cool!! We did that with our boys we have Jordin, Jayden, and Jayson. Their dad’s name also begins with a J. There is nothing wrong with it at all!

Sarah M. on

tlm – I took Luna’s comment to mean she liked how those names sounded with the last name.

I have 2 cousins that did themes with their kids names. I don’t think either one planned it, it just happened that way. One has boys Cale and Connor and a daughter named Kennedy (so not the same letter but the same sound) and the other has Garrett, Grant, Graham and Grayson. All 4 boys have a middle name from each parents families (mom’s mom, mom’s dad, dad’s mom and dad’s dad). All of their names suit them and I couldn’t imagine them with any other names! My sister just had a baby in December and named him Brent. For a girl they really liked Breckin. They apparently lean toward ‘b’ names.

I’m guessing they’ll go more traditional for the name.

Sorry for the rant! I like names. :)

Luna- I once knew a woman who, along with her husband (who, sadly, had passed away by the time I met the woman), did a similar thing. Their sons had the same initals as their father, and the girls the same initals as their mother. :) Anyway, Tia sounds excited for motherhood!

bevvie on

Most of you need to mind your own business. She and her husband (and any one else having a baby) can use whatever method they want to name their babies. I don’t believe that they wanted your opinions.

Anamaria on

Very happy for her Havin a baby is the best thing that can happen in ur life

Luna on

tlm: I meant I liked how those first names went with their last name. But I totally see how you could interpret my comment the other way. Sorry :)

Curtrina D. Davis on

You and Cory are going to be wonderful parents. And I thank God for allowing you to receive this great Blessing.

Allison J on

Wow, I still remember Tia and her sister Tamara, from Sister,Sister on TV! My children watched it when they were younger and I saw many episodes, too!

Tia is so grown up now. Best for her and her new baby boy!

Carrie Jo on

C- names are great! :oD My own son is named Cole.

shirabee on

i love ‘c’ names. i read somewhere- dont remember where now, that tia said that if she had a boy he was probably going to be named cory or cayden or along those lines! either way congrats to them! this baby will surely be a handsome guy!

Jill on

Shirabee, she said C names for Cory….as in the later C to represent her husband Cory.

leana on

What about Cory Jr

NaNoska on

I think it’s funny how some people on here are passing judgments and complaining about Tia wanting to give her baby a “normal” name that starts with a “C” while other celebrities has named their children Pilot Inspecktor, Cash, Apple, Coco, Hopper Jack and the list CAN go on and on! And NOBODY hasnt said not one negative comments about them…. so just leave her alone!!!!

Angela on

Calvin Hardict is a cute name.

Becky on

I remember them from Sister, Sister also..Think the “C” names would be great, the only thing that I don’t like is giving the baby the same name as the Dad..i.e. jr, the 2nd or whatever.. What about Craig?

Terri on

I know some people like the matching names, but personally, for me it’s not happening. I just don’t care for it. To each her own.

Christin on

If Tia, Tamera and Taj managed to own their names and have their own personalities shine out, I think that’s great that Tia has so much confidence in her son that he’ll shine out as well. So good for them!

Anonymous on

She has also said that she wanted the middle name to start with a t. I like the name Cade Thomas.

kendria.. D.D on
