Mike Tyson Welcomes Son Morocco Elijah

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic

Tuesday was a knockout for Mike Tyson — the boxer and wife Lakiha Spicer Tyson welcomed a new son.

Morocco Elijah Tyson arrived Jan. 25 in Henderson, Nev., weighing in at 8 lbs., 13 oz., and measuring 19 inches in length.

“He is such a sweet and calm baby. Mike and Kiki are overwhelmed with joy to welcome their son to the Tyson family,” the boxer’s rep tells PEOPLE.

Morocco is the couple’s second child together. They have a 2-year-old daughter named Milan.

Hopefully this will help them overcome the tragedy of losing their daughter.

I like the name. Morocco is another african country used on a boy just after Egypt recently by Alicia Keys. And I actually know boys named Kenya and Zaire. Will be no different to boys named Israel, Dakota, Montana, Milan or Indiana.

Congrats to the couple!

Their daughter is so cute. Can’t wait to see baby Morocco!

Congrats to the family!

His wife looks like she could be of Moroccan descent. Maybe that’s behind the choice. Sorry, don’t like location names in general. I guess some are better than others. And Marocco is in the “others” category for me…

Congratulations to them! I love his name.

I wonder when Christina Applegate’s going to have her baby. She’s one of those “feels like she’s been pregnant forever” celebs.

I really like this name. Spunky and they can call him Rocco for short. I can totally see this catching on in Hollywood.

- Brooke on

That’s a cute name!

- Natasha on

I ♥ the name! EVERY time I see Mike Tyson I think about his role in The Hangover and CRACK UP!!! Congrats to him and his beautiful wife on this new addition. :)

- Crystal on

I don’t like country names like Morocco. It just sounds strange, would you name your child Germany or Australia?

I really like the name Milan though!

- Anna on

I guess you could say it’s not a name you hear every day. Ive never thought of Morocco as a first name before! But like Macy said, loads of other places have been used, so why not! I think the birth of a new baby will bring some much need joy and celebration into their lives.

But the daughter that tragically died had a different mother to this lady, and don’t they (the other children with this lady) live quite far apart? I hope the older ones get to meet the new addition soon.

I love it. Very beautiful.

I can see someone with and everyday name like Anna not liking the name Morocco.

Mira – His wife is African-American. Love guys that go for us chicks from around the way.

- J-Lin on

J-Lin what does “Mira – His wife is African-American. Love guys that go for us chicks from around the way” mean?

- Michelle on

The tragedy with his daughter was horrific, however, this was not the childs mother. She was from another relationship. He married her Lakiha 10 days after his daughter died.

Anyway, congratulations to them! I don’t like the name, but it isn’t up to me!

- Erika on

Congrats to them! Morocco is an okay name, although I think it would suit a girl better than a boy.

- CelebBabyLover on

Morocco is in Africa. Hence, she can easily be both African-American and from Moroccan descent.

- Mira on

Love the name! She is beautiful!!

lol people just talk about what they don’t know !

- you on

Michelle – It’s in reference to a LL Cool J song. She a regular black American girl. I tried to be PC using African-American even though I prefer black.

- J-Lin on

Here’s hoping and praying that he’s a changed man and doesn’t turn this little boy into a member of the Future Wife Beaters, Rapists, Maniacs of America.

Congrats to them, I hope they have a beautiful healthy baby,I also like th name, it sounds good. To Macy I just feel the need to correct you and to tell you that for english speaking people Milan may sonud as a location name but it isn’t. It’s a Slavic name (Eastern Europe) and it comes from mil which means kind :D

- Tanya on

I don’t care about the name just the baby. This man needs serious help before he can be a healthy partner, husband, or father. Quit having umpteen babies by several women with the children getting the raw deal. Please don’t tell me how he can provide for them financially…doesn’t matter. I work in mental health and have to deal with the repercussions of irresponsible parenting daily.

- kim on

CelebBabyLover, you’re crazy. Morocco first of all is a country, but as a name it suits a boy way more than a girl. Not only does it end in the ever-so-masculine “o”, it also gets the Rocco ending which is exclusively boy name.

- Macy on

Actually maci exodus was from a previous relationship but yes this another blessing.

So sad about his daughter in that accident awhile back. I am happy for him. He deserves some happiness after such tragedy :)

- Dee on

Marocco is in africa and people in northern african have sub-saharran aocestry it has been prove by DNA testing. Because the arabs and the berbers have been inslaving blacks for thousands of years. Also other africans have traded with them and married :) that is why northern africans should not be considered white like the arabs. Because they are mixed race. Like many blacks from the americas we are very mixed majority of us looks like souther european , northern african or arabs :) because they are also mixed.
