Spotted: Kourtney Kardashian and Mason’s Slidin’ Smiles

Fame

Say whee!

Kourtney Kardashian and 13-month-old son Mason Dash enjoy some mommy-and-me time at a Beverly Hills park on Saturday.

The reality star dished to PEOPLE about her decision to not have Mason appear on Kourtney & Kim Take New York, saying she was “weirded out” by it.

“I think we’ll take it season by season with Mason,” Kardashian, 31, says. “We’ll see how it goes and how we’re feeling at the time.”

They look like they are having such a great time! Just a warning to all parents though…. NEVER ever go down a slide with your child on your lap. It may not seem like a bad idea but most broken legs in young child are caused from kids going down slides on their parent’s lap. Please don’t do it and if you see a parent at a playground doing it please stop them.

- jacky on

I don’t want to sound mean, but it’s dangerous to go down the slide with your child because the child’s leg can get twisted behind yours and break if they move. My daughter broke her leg that way. A very common cause of ER visits. I’m sure she doesn’t know.

jacky, seriously?!

- Kate on

have always gone down the slide with my kids and have never once had a broken bone, how ever i have had many a bumped head and seen kids fall of slides by letting them go down by them themselves that little.

its is quite a lovely picture xx that smile will break afew hearts xx

i think it’s sad that we live in such a climate of fear: don’t let your children go outside on their own, go to birthday parties on their own, go naked at the beach. and now, don’t go down slides with them??? there are SO many ways children can hurt themselves but you can’t stop having fun just because you’re constantly afraid they might get hurt. if a parent came up to me in a playground and told me not to slide down with my kid i would feel sorry that they are such an over-concerned parent.

I KNOW accidents happen and it terrible when they do, but we can’t wrap our kids up in cotton wool.

Jacky, while I’m sure you had the best of intentions in mind, if you ever approached me at a park and told me how to play with my children on the playground, I’d look at you like you had a horn growing out of your head. By all means, do as you please with your own children but let me do the same with mine.

While watching K&KTNY I thought “Where’s Mason?” I forgot they agreed not to have him on this season. He is such a cutie and they look so happy. Motherhood really agrees with Kourtney!

@JM-I agree with you. While the warning is good and helps parents be aware of the potential dangers there are so many things you can’t do these days. My parents did that type of stuff with me and as a child I never had a single broken bone. I refuse to raise my future children in a world where I’m scared of everything due to the dangers they possess. There are dangers in everything you do you just have to be aware of these possibilities and take heed.

While I am completely unaware about bones breaking on slides I think this is a super cure photo! Both Mason and Kourtney look super happy and seem to be having a great time.

In regards to their new tv show, I have never and will never watch any of the Kardashian’s shows but I am aware of the family members reputations. I finally have respect for Kourtney, she appears to be a great mother. I admire her choice to keep Mason off of her show. If she allows him on the show in future seasons I can see my respect going very downhill.

- ELO on

@ELO: According to media reports, it wasn’t Kourtney’s decision to keep Mason off the show. It was because Scott wanted too much money per episode for Mason to appear and E! refused to pay the amount he wanted.

- Dani on

omg seriously!?!? @whoever mentioned broken bones…………she’s not going down the slide at 100 mph. she has a good grip on him. i understand being cautious but you all are PARANOID. get a life man!

@ dani, that would never be confirmed by anyone who actually matters so maybe you’re dumb for believing it.

They look like they’re having so much fun!

Wow, I didn’t know that jacky and Elisabeth. Never thought about it. Thanks for the information. Very helpful!

- Shannon on

I find it funny that she is “weirded out” about having Mason on the show now but had no problem airing his birth on television, complete with her pulling him out at the end.

- tara on

The way it was written makes me think she was weirded out by her decision not to have him on air, but I got it.

- Terri on

Someone could say that you shouldn’t carry your baby because you might trip and fall and drop him/her, and it sounds ridiculous, does it not? Though it technically is true…. You can’t live in a constant state of fear! The fact is, accidents do have the potential to happen, it’s part of living, be safe but I just don’t see how some people can go through life being so paranoid.

This is a great picture, and as much as I enjoyed the last season of Keeping Up and seeing Mason on it, it’s definitely for the best that he won’t be so exposed to the cameras. Good on Kourtney and Scott, and I love seeing pictures/interviews with Kourtney and Mason!

@Anonymous: Where in my comment did I say that I believed the media reports? Although given Scott’s personality, I wouldn’t be surprised it if were true.

- Dani on

well I just have to say that I came across this article by looking up how easy it was to break a babies leg while going down the slide with a parent BECAUSE IT JUST HAPPENED TO MY POOR 10 MONTH OLD LILLY!!! she rode down the slide on her daddy’s lap and when the reached the bottom (very small slide) his legs are so long that I guess he little leg crushed in his lap leaning up against his legs. We at first just thought she was scared… She stopped crying and we checked her out, nothing seemed wrong. The next day we noticed that everytime we touched her leg she cried, but she could still move it. So we figured it was just hurt… she could still move her leg all the way down to her toes. The second day she wouldnt crawl or attempt to stand up and I noticed some swelling… SURE ENOUGH when I take her to the ER they do xrays and she broke it in 2 spots :( PLEASE PARENTS BE CAREFUL… this just happened to us yesterday… Nothing worse than seeing your baby in a cast and in pain when you were just trying to have fun at the park!!!
