I, for one, have no problem with Russia seeking child support from Hansen (although I’m not sure if they’ll be able to get it). What she did to that child is nothing short of disgusting. She adopted an older child, took him to a new country, changed his name, kept him away from other children, and refused to take him to a psychologist. It’s no wonder the child had psychological issues. And then she sticks this young child on a plane all by himself with a note? Disgusting.

If her refusal to terminate parental rights is keeping this child from being able to join a loving home, she should be even more ashamed of herself. A child is not returnable. She wanted the responsibility of parenthood – so now she needs to deal with it.

I agree Sarah K. The mother was very wrong in what she did and should definitely have to pay for some of the consequences.

While I don’t doubt that there were problems with bonding and behavior, those were to be expected. They should have sought family training and counseling before returning the child. Adopting an older child is a wonderful thing, however, you have to expect that bonding may not come immediately, like it would with an infant. Children in orphanages, particularly those over 3-4 years of age or so, have been through a lot and haven’t lived in the greatest conditions. They need to know how to love and how to trust. Rather than giving her son enough time as well as help to overcome his issues with bonding and behavior, this woman took the child out of a stable home enviromnent and put him back in an orphanage, which is disgusting. That will only make any trust issues worse for the poor kid in the future.

On the Amber necklaces, I haven’t read the article yet but I will say we thought they were cute but probably didn’t work beyond looking adorable.

Well our son will sleep at least 2 hours longer while wearing it, and he cut all four top teeth without us even knowing it when he wore it 24/7

He’s cutting 4 bottom teeth currently and hot damn do we know it. :(

I need to get his necklace back out!

Less drool. Less fuss, More Sleep = yeah it’s worth it! But you need to go for the REAL ones not the knock offs.

I would never put a necklace or anything like beads in or around my child. Teething comes and goes. For two out of the four children I have, I used a product that would dissolve on their tongues. It had belladonna in it which I know has its dangers but in that small of quantity and after talking to a pharmacist was ok to give. I bought it at Walgreens and if memory serves me correctly it was a Walgreens brand and marketed for teething. But hey if those beads worked for you then my favorite saying ‘to each his own’and hats off!

The child I nanny never suffered through teething while his sister did. He would get 4 teeth at once and besides drooling there wasn’t a problem and he no didn’t wear amber beads. I’m going to say that the placebo effect is working with those beads and not scientific facts

Parents please please please do not put beads on your child UNSUPERVISED and yes putting your child to sleep with that stuff on is considered unsupervised.

:) i love the ashton kutcher/scout video. sweet, candid, genuine. :) and she has a good voice.

The necklaces are completely safe – for anyone interested in them. They have a magnetic clasp that comes un done if there is a firm tug. You place the necklace under your child’s clothing so they don’t even know they have it on.

Placebo? hardly.

What this woman did, send that child back to Russia, and on his own, was, and still is, completely irresponsible and heartless. While I understand raising a child, especially an adopted child, who may not even understand you, is not easy, there’s no excuse for sending them back the way she did. She needs to take responsibility for her actions … and never be trusted with a child again.

sarah a clasp means nothing except that it makes it a heck of a lot easier to choke on it, besides the fact that those beads can come off, sure it looks like each one is individually tied like pearls are but all it takes is one for your child to choke. Putting it under clothes makes no difference, kids are smart little things and figure out stuff quickly.

You go ahead and raise your child as you see fit, I along with the numerous people and professionals will still think it’s dangerous to put a bracelet or necklace on a child and then put that kid to bed.

I certainly will =)
