Selma Blair Expecting First Child

Maury Phillips/WireImage

And baby makes three: Selma Blair and her fashion designer boyfriend, Jason Bleick, are expecting their first child, her rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

Blair, 38, and Bleick, founder and creative director for EVER fashion line, met while collaborating for the brand and have been dating about a year, according to a friend.

“They are ecstatic,” says the friend. “They couldn’t be happier.”

The actress was recently nominated for a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for Children for the audio book Anne Frank: The Diary Of A Young Girl: The Definitive Edition. She’ll next be seen in the drama Dark Horse costarring Christopher Walken.

Congratulations to her!

And oh God, after I heard this one, I couldn’t stop laughing for some reason. What is up with this Hollywood baby boom?

Can’t wait to see who’s next yet again!

- klutzy_girl on

Seriously, what is in the water??

- Lisa on

I can see Kendra and Hank being next. Football season is almost over. And I think it will be their last child. My prediction anyway..

- Mina on

And another one, congrats to Selma & Jason. LOL!

- ll65 on

Wow ANOTHER one!!!! Happy for them! Congrats! Lots of Holliwood playdates are coming up LOL

- Elena on

Holy Babyboom!! I have lost count of how many celebrity pregenancies have been announced this year (2011)!!
Cannot wait for all the birth announcments nine months from now!!

Congrats to Selma and Jason!!

- Bree on

I wonder when she’s due?

- CelebBabyLover on

Yay! Another Legally Blonde baby. (Ali Larter is the other one.)
Now Resse should have another one. :)

- Meagan on

There is something in the water, and why I just stocked up on bottled water!

Congrats to her, I loved her in the movie with Reese and Ryan (can’t remember the name)

- TC on

Wow that is a lot! And I had no idea she was 38! I thought she was younger, she looks very good for that age.

- Holiday on

If you currently look at the Top 5 most popular news on the main page of people.com, it’s all about babies and engagements. Great news. Keep them coming.

- Em on

How exciting….something must be in the air in Hollywood! Would love to see Selma in Fit2Bmom!

- Fit2Bmom Apparel on

Wow! I am shocked at all the celeb baby announcements! Well Congrats to Selma and Jason! I also wouldn’t think she’s 38, she looks much younger. Anyways, I feel like 2011 is a babyboom year! I personally know 5 women that are also pregnant now.

- Nella on

Congrats to Selma. Have to agree with Holiday, thought she was much younger. Would have pegged her for around 30 – 33.

So, CBB readers, who do YOU think will be next to join this epic baby boom?
My predictions are:-

Resse Witherspoon & her fiancé.
Jack Black & his wife.
Helena Bonham Carter & Tim Burton.
Tobey & Jennifer Maguire.
Nicholas Cage & his wife.
Megan Fox & Brian Austin Green.

As for a less likely couple, I can see Gwyneth Paltrow & Chris Martin or Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban joining the boom. Then for total surprises, I can see either Cameron Diaz or Kate Winslet.

- Natasha on

The announcements just keep coming!!

- Lacey on

Em- now all 5 of the top stories are about babies/pregnancies. Love it!

- kmb on

2011 is the new babyboom vs. 2008. I think Reese Witherspoon will be next-after her + her new husband marry. Maybe Angelina Jolie + Brad Pitt will welcome another kid into the family this year, whether via pregnancy or adoption.

I hope Gwen Stefani has 1 more…

Congrats to them!

- Mia on

You always know when it’s winter, because people start getting pregnant…. It’s a know fact that most babies are conceived in Dec/Jan

- CC on

Wow!! Great news!!

- Waverly on

Wow, there IS something in the water…excited to see who makes an announcement next! Congrats to them!

TC – Cruel Intentions is the film you’re thinking of, I think.

- Rosalie on

I thought to myself “this is ridiculous!!!” EVERYONE in Hollywood is announcing their pregnancies!!! Lol! Another pregnancy I did not see coming! I love Selma Blair especially in the Sweetest Thing!! Ha! Congrats to her and her boyfriend!!! :)

- Crystal on

Wow, I would have never guessed she was 38 either!

- Amelie on

EM after I read your most I check and you are right. I will say it’s nice to see good news for all five top stories.

It will be so much fun in about 6-9 months to see all the baby pictures, in the mean time, belly pictures and hopefully some great baby belly fashion.

Congratulations to the happy couple. They are going to have beautiful children.

- B.R on

I’m loving the baby-boom! Can we have a betting pool or something?

Selma is SO cool. I know she’s had some personal troubles in the past, so it’s lovely to hear those good news from her! Congrats!

- kai on

I’m so excited by all this baby news!! :) I’m also due this summer so it’s great to have so many celebs be pregnant with me!

- lena on

Loved her in “Cruel Intentions”!

- Mary Beth on

It’s really funny because I heard someone say 2009 was the year of Celebrity Deaths. 2010 was the year of Celebrity Splits. And 2011 will be the year of Celebrity Births. Glad to see that’s coming true!

- Mary on

Is it becoming a trend???

- Emma on

Wow, there’s something in the water in Hollywood. What an exciting year it’s going to be with all the new babies going to be born.

- Becky on

Awesome news, I’ve liked her since Legally Blonde. Congrats to her and Jason.

Bumps still on for Nicole Kidman & Shania Twain.

- Snaperulz on

wow they just keep on coming!

- JMO on

Congrats to them. holy baby boom! now Cameron Diaz needs to have one (; (The Sweetest Thing)

& My predictions are maybe Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson, Gwen Stefani, Katy & Russell or Khloe or Kourtney K?
or for a shock, what about
Anne Hathaway, Ellen & Portia or Julianne Hough (dating Ryan Seacrest)?

I was thinking Isla Fisher, but I remembered she just had one, but we’ll probably get to hear the name/gender of Isla Fisher’s new little one soon, because you know she’ll be doing promotion for that animated movie Rango, with Johnny Depp.

- j.e. on

Sorry I meant bumpwatches still on for Nicole Kidman & Shania Twain!

- sanperulz on

I didn’t think she was near 38 either! She looks very much younger.

Congrats to Selma on the pregnancy!

- erilynne on

Congratulations to Selma and Jason …. maybe I’m in the wrong state to get pregnant … maybe I should go out to California to try and get pregnant …. seems to be working for everyone over there LOL.

- Bancie1031 on

CC- I’m sure you’re right (especially because, as another poster pointed out on another recent pregnancy announcement thread, people tend to spend a lot more time huddled inside and cuddling in the winter and, well, one thing leads to another! ;) ), but for what it’s worth, most of these celeb-babies-to-be were concieved in September and October, as most of the moms-to-be seem to be 3 or 4 months along. :)

- CelebBabyLover on

Well I thought 2007 was a big hollywood baby boom year – thats the year my daughter was born and I remember Usher and Christina Aguilera both had their baby’s that year, along with a number of other celebrities – I remember those two because I grew up listening to their music! And so now I’m pregnant again and due late this year, and hollywood has gone baby mad AGAIN!! Wow, I must be a celebrity at heart or something! LOL

- Kay on

Funny! Seems she was dating two guys at the same time but didn’t tell them or at least one of them named Mike Day from the Tonight Show. Oh yeah, she just broke up with him! Seems like a cheater to me!

- Rachel on

babies are gifts from God and every one hat gets to concieve should be asured of his blessings and great providence.
