Jason Schwartzman is too busy to be Bored to Death — he has a new baby at home.

The actor and wife Brady Cunningham welcomed a daughter, Marlowe Rivers Schwartzman, on Saturday, Dec. 4 in Los Angeles, his rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

“I’m lucky I found a woman that I love and that’s amazing,” Schwartzman, 30, who stars in the HBO hit, said last fall. “I’m having a family and I feel very happy. I try to be a good father-to-be. I try to treat my wife well [so she can] enjoy these months.”

Schwartzman and Cunningham, a fashion designer, wed in July 2009.

I bet he’s gonna be a great dad! He comes across as a really down-to-earth, friendly guy.

The name is pretty cool! I love the name Rivers and want to use it myself once day! His wife is very pretty as well.

Jacqui on

Anyone know who Brady is, what she does, how they met, etc?

jen on

I knew they’d pick a stellar name. So cute!

I like her name! He reminds me of a younger Stanley Tucci!

Corrie on

Love the name, very unique and unconventional, not one I’ve heard before. Congratulations to both Jason & Brady on their new arrival – like Colleen, I can’t wait to see the pictures!

Colleen on

Jacqui-she is a fashion designer. As for how they met, I have no idea.

Waverly on

Jacqui: If I remember correctly, Brady is a clothing designer. I have no idea how they met though..

Thanks Colleen and Waverly!

YAY, how wonderful!! I am so happy for them; and I know they’ll be great parents! I heart Jason…he always seems so nice and caring in interviews. Great Dad, I am sure he is already.

Love the name Marlowe Schwartzman. Marlowe Rivers alone reminds me of a country club. Idk y but it does.

What a great name!! Well done….the first great baby name of 2010

Cute name! My cousin’s daughter is named Marlo, which I think is how you pronounce “Marlowe.” I like it.

Meagan on

Love the name! So adorable and cool! I’ve never heard it but I like it.

Marlo is my favorite girl’s name! And River is one of me favorites for a boy 😀

Hmm, this name sounds like a law firm to me. Three last names and no first name in sight. Kind of silly, but hey, this is just MHO.

Sarah M. on

I also know a Marlo (female, too). I love the name. I’ve seen a few celebs use it in the last year or 2, but not too many. Glad it’s not becoming popular (I hope!).

Contgrats to the entire family. From everything Jason’s said, that baby is sure to be well loved!

Congrats to them!

Jacqui–I could’ve sworn there was an interview he did on the Late Late Show where he talks about his wife but I can’t find it. But he does mention her briefly in this interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MYY33CZtoU She was a manager of a store that he went to, and that’s where he met her.

Marlowe is my favorite girl`s name, too. I also hope it doesn’t become too popular 🙂

I think we all know a Marlo – i.e. Marlo Thomas! The actress that played “That Girl”, and stars in the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital commercials (her father, comedian Danny Thomas was its patron)

Congrats to the happy new parents! What a great year for the Coppola family as their cousin Sofia also had a baby this year.

I hope this name doesn’t become popular. 😦 It’s my #1 pick (largely because it’s so uncommon).

aurora mia on

Do you think she’s named after, Christopher Marlowe? That’s pretty cool, too. Awesome name!

Jennifer Marlow on

Love this name! My last name is Marlow and i love it so much its my 4 month old daughters middle name!! Yay!

Jaedyn on

I know two dogs named Marlow, and I think it’s cute for pets. For girls… Well, it’s kind of nice, could grow on me 🙂 Better than Harlow, Willow or Meadow IMO 🙂 Not sure about Rivers, though. River for a boy is nice, but with the s and for a girl… Roger Federers daughter is names Charlene Riva & I quite like it. Anyways… Congrats!

Waverly on

dacm – hopefully it won’t, but if it does, there are TONS of untapped, uniquely wonderful names out there! I think it would be cool to make up a name — or better yet, combine two names together! I once heard someone had the name Kimberlyn, and I couldn’t get over how gorgeous it was — and all her parents did was mix two names together!

Jaedyn: I’d take Willow or Meadow over Marlowe, quite honestly. It’s the spelling that puts me off; reminds me of Christopher Marlowe and looks definitively like a surname. Marlow, Marley, Marlene — all are a little better (although they’d get Harlow comparisons with Marlow.) But whatever works for them…

Ari on

He should play Stanley Tucci’s son. There’s something very “Stanley Tucci” about him in this pic.

CelebBabyLover on

soph- What’s wrong with Christopher Marlowe (I’ll admit I don’t know a thing about the guy, so for all I know he could have a not so good reputation!)? Anyway, talking about the names Harlow and Marlow got me thinking….Those would be great names for twins! 🙂

soph on

Nothing wrong, just saying that the name looks very male to me.

CelebBabyLover on

soph- That makes sense. Actually, I tend to think of the name Marlowe as more masculine too, for a similar reason: When I was in Elementary school, one of the boys in my class had the last name Marlow. So I came to associate it more with boys. 🙂

Hi on

CBL- This might not be entirely correct, but I’m pretty sure Christopher Marlowe was a sixteenth century playwright who died in 1593 when he was just 27. Some people think that he was the one who wrote Shakespeare’s plays, but that would be awfully difficult since most of the plays were written after 1600. I hope I’m helpful.

I like the name. Rivers does sound like a boys’ name/last name on its own, but it flows very nicely with the Marlowe and the Schwartzmann. Judging by the picture of the couple they provide, she might end up looking like a platinum blond Stanley Tucci!

Sophia on

Congratulations to Jason and Brady! No doubt baby Marlowe will be just beautiful 🙂 I don’t mind the name Marlowe, though I prefer Harlow or Willow. The only person I actually personally know with this name is an 11-year-old boy called Marlo, so I tend to associate it with males more than females, even though it is a female name traditionally. I know of a few girls with this name. Anyway, I’m so happy for the Schwartzman/Cunningham family on the birth of lovely Marlowe Rivers 🙂

Amanda on

My 7 year old son’s name is Marlowe, named after Christopher Marlowe. Hope it stays unique.

I know of a boy named Marlowe here in London, and I think it was after his Mum’s favourite playwright, Christopher Marlowe (very highly regarded over here – there’s even a Marlowe Society) and the fact that it is an old English name as a boy’s Christian name. It’s a great name and it suits him brilliantly. Not sure about it on a girl!
