Nancy O’Dell: Daughter Ashby ‘Not a Fragile Flower’

Ben Dome/Pacific Coast News

At age 3, Nancy O’Dell‘s daughter Ashby Grace is already learning to hold her own with her two big brothers.

“Ashby is so tough,” says O’Dell, who also has stepsons Tyler, 15, and Carson, 10, with husband Keith Zubchevich.

“She can always defend herself at school because she has to do it at home. She’s not a fragile flower!”

She’s also managed to change her night owl mom into an early bird.

“I used to so not be a morning person,” says O’Dell, who is promoting the Morning Squeeze video contest sponsored by Florida Orange Juice. But since becoming a mom, the newly-named Entertainment Tonight host regularly rises at 5 a.m. to get her emails and organizing out of the way before the kids are up.

“Also, when you have a toddler and she’s ready to go to bed at 8 or 8:30 at night it’s like, ‘Time for me to go to bed too!’”

Spotted: Kate Winslet’s Schoolboy – Joe!

Freddie Baez/Startraks

School’s out for the day!

All bundled up to fight the chilly NYC temps, Kate Winslet picked her son Joe Alfie up from school on Thursday.

The two walked hand-in-hand before Joe, who turns 7 this month, stopped to enjoy a drink while the actress tried catching a cab.

Joe is Winslet’s only child with estranged husband Sam Mendes; She and Jim Threapleton are also parents to daughter Mia Honey, 10.

Take a Bite Out of Meal Prep with Tiny Bites Food Shears

Courtesy Tiny Bites

When baby sinks her teeth — or gums — into table food for the first time, you’ll offer her bites in a size she can handle.

Unfortunately, not all foods come in baby-sized portions.

Tiny Bites Food Shears ($10 for two) let you skip the fork and knife, by quickly and easily slicing through all the foods you’ll serve your tot.

Grapes, green beans and even a grilled cheese are no match for these cutlery-grade stainless steel blades, which are BPA and lead-free and leave no metallic aftertaste.

They’re are also outfitted with some pretty neat features, like a comfort spring for adjusting the tension while cutting thicker foods, and a protective blade cover.

Best of all, each pair is dishwasher-safe. Buy them at Tinybites.com.

Alana de la Garza Is Ready to ‘Combat the Chub’

George Napolitano/Getty

For Alana de la Garza, there’s nothing like a little motivation when it comes to shedding the pregnancy pounds.

Following her six-week recovery after “unfortunately” undergoing a c-section to deliver son Kieran Thomas on Oct. 6, the former Law & Order actress has hit the pavement running — literally!

“My method? I chase my husband [Michael Roberts] around the neighborhood as he sits in the back of a pickup truck, holding a fishing pole with an ice-cream sandwich dangling seductively from it,” the new mom tells Latina.

“I’m joking … it’s actually a cheeseburger!”

Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban Upstaged by Their Daughter

Bauer Griffin

When your mother is Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and your father is country megastar Keith Urban, it’s a tough act to follow. But that’s not a problem for Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, who steals the show at home, according to her parents.

At Thursday’s New York premiere of Kidman’s latest film, Rabbit Hole, Urban and Kidman tell PEOPLE that their 2-year-old can already sing, dance and do her own makeup. Case in point: Right before that night’s event, the starlet-in-training put on a “pre-premiere show.”

“[Keith] was actually playing the piano just before we left,” Kidman, 43, tells PEOPLE, “and Sunday Rose was dancing around the living room.”
