Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany are expanding their family.

The actress, 40, is pregnant with her third child, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.

Connelly and The Tourist star Bettany, 39, are already parents to son Stellan, 7, as well as Kai, 13, from her previous relationship with David Dugan.

“Becoming a mother has made all the difference in terms of learning to take more responsibility for myself and my life,” she has said.

“Parenthood changed the way I do everything. The biggest thing for me is wanting my kids to grow up safely and have happy lives. To me, that’s enough.”

The couple, who met filming A Beautiful Mind, wed in Scotland in 2003.

My husband and 16 year old son have a crush on her, in fact I just found this out this past weekend while watching Inkheart. I’m thinking the movies Hulk and inkheart did them in. lol My oldest and youngest are 12 1/2 years apart.Our “baby” is 6. Not quite the 13 years she will have but still fun to see the oldest and youngest interact with each other.

Yay! They’re such a sweet couple. I’d love for them to have a girl but I think it will be a boy too. It is funny, she has 6 years between Kai and Stellan and now 7 years between Stellan and the new baby. The name Kai has really taken off, I have been hearing it used alot lately. @Natasha. They couldn’t have known the baby’s gender in December as she was only 3 months pregnant then unless they picked the gender of the baby by picking the female embryos in the petrie dish. Is that what your source told you?
