Mariah Carey’s Approach to Morning Sickness: ‘Keep Calm’

Marion Curtis/Startraks

Nausea is familiar territory for nearly all expectant moms, but for Mariah Carey it’s more than just a nuisance.

“Throwing up is bad for your voice,” the Grammy Award-winning songstress, 41, notes in an interview with USA Today. “The reflux is terrible, so I’ve been trying to just keep calm, get through it.”

With husband Nick Cannon by her side, Carey got through her very public pregnancy announcement –  but she says delivering the news was harder than it looked.

“I can’t remember the last time I was that nervous before an interview,” she confesses. “I never get that way.”

Busy Philipps: Working Motherhood ‘Can Be Tough’

Sara De Boer/Startraks

Busy Philipps may have more in common with you than you think.

The Cougar Town star says balancing work and motherhood — daughter Birdie Leigh turned 2 in August — is something she struggles with just like everyone else.

“It’s not easy, and I think every working mom deals with guilt,” Philipps, 31, told PEOPLE at CAAF’s 17th Annual Dream Halloween Party.

“My hours are hit or miss. Some weeks I get to spend a lot of time with my daughter and some weeks — like the last few weeks — I’ve been working a lot and haven’t been able to spend as much time with her. It’s been tough.”

Park playtime!

After dropping 4-year-old son Kingston off at preschool, Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani were spotted heading to the park for some solo time with Zuma Nesta Rock, 2, on Wednesday morning in Los Angeles.

Her younger son is “more of a show-off” than Kingston, Stefani, 41, laughs.

“[Zuma] wants everyone to watch him, and he’s a goofball and he’s really silly. He’s a funny guy.”

Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos: Good Manners Not Lost On Our Kids

 alt= Hector Vallenilla/Pacific Coast News

When it comes to instilling good manners in their three children, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos look to family dinners every night of the week for help.

“It’s when we do some of our best parenting,” Ripa told PEOPLE at The World of Gloria Vanderbilt book signing in New York on Thursday.

“We have a routine. We go around the table and listen to everyone’s stories of the day, what happened in school, what we liked and didn’t like,” Consuelos added.

“I always tell my kids — you don’t have to be the best at sports, the smartest, the best at math, but you do have to have the best manners,” Ripa, 40, explains. “I don’t tolerate piggish behavior in kids, and mine have learned the hard way.”
