It’s double trouble for Chris Daughtry.

The rocker and wife Deanna welcomed fraternal twins on Wednesday morning, Nov. 17, he announced via his Web site. Daughter Adalynn Rose arrived at 11:06 a.m. weighing 6 lbs, 5 oz., while son Noah James followed at 11:25 a.m. weighing in at 5 lbs, 5 oz.

“Our family is overwhelmed with joy by these two precious gifts from God,” Daughtry, 30, said. “The babies are both healthy and resting. Thanks to everyone for their love and prayers.”

The newborns — carried by a gestational surrogate — will join elder siblings Hannah and Griffin at home.

I love those names! I love his message too about his children. I wish them all the best. Congratulations Chris, Deanna, Hannah, and Griffin on Adalynn and Noah.

Brooklyn on

That’s so awesome, congrats to them both! I love both of their names as well. I think they are both great first name/middle name combos!

Brooke on

Congrats to Chris & Deanna!!!

Mandy on

I’m loving the names Adalynn and Noah! Congrats! Also I was just taking a guess and saying the birth was probably natural because there’s 19 minutes in between Adalynn’s birth and then her brother’s. That’s good for the surrogate too, less recovery time.

Sarah S. on

YAY–that’s wonderful news! I’m sure they’ll have a very special Thanksgiving this year with the babies. Congrats to them!

Meghan on

Congrats! They stole my boy name!! :)

Meghan on

I’ve never heard the name Adalynn before. It’s very beautiful! Congratulations to the Daughtry family!

nicole30923 on

why do the boys always get the better names?

Amy on

Where does it say they used a surrogate??? I like the names also but prefer the spelling Adelynn.

Brooke on

Amy–if you click on the link to his website, it says it there.
Congrats to them, I love the names!!

Tiffany on

Congrats Chris & Deanna! What a wonderful blessing. Can’t wait to see how cute they are!

Jill on

Congratulations!!!!! Love the names. I am so happy for them.

Amy, It says, “The newborns — conceived through gestational surrogacy — will join elder siblings Hannah and Griffin at home.”

Allison J on

Congrats to Chris and Deanna!!!

I’ve always admired Chris’s dedication to his family. He was married to Deanna long before he was on American Idol, and seems to care for his two stepkids like his own.

Gotta love that in a man!

Best wishes to the entire family.

Erika on

Oh my Gosh! I’m so happy for him! A boy and a girl is sooo exciting and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the names!! Especially Adalynn.

Amber on

love the names! blows my mind that my sister had the same names in mind for her twins! Congrats!!!

soph on

Meghan, you’ve never heard it before because it’s made up. It sounds like a medicine. What’s wrong with just “Ada”? So tired of these “lyn” names…

Mandy on

Gestational surrogate… does that mean, the babies are not biologically Chris and Deanna’s? Now before anyone jumps down my throat…I’m not asking because I’m like “OMG its so wrong if they’re not!” I am just not sure exactly and would like someone to explain.

Thanks!

Jenn on

Mandy,

A gestational surrogate means, most likely, that the twins are biologically Chris and his wife’s.

A gestational surrogate is someone that carries the pregnancy but does not contribute any biological material (that would be a traditional surrogate).

I also think the article actually misstates what occurred. The twins were actually conceived through IVF and then transferred and carried by a gestational surrogate.

Jill on

SopH, they didn’t make it up……I have met someone with that name and spelled the same way and her parents don’t know Chris!

soph on

Regardless of whether someone else has the exact name and spelling, it LOOKS like they just said, “Addison, hmm, let’s make it ‘unique,’ okay, AdaLYNN!” If they had chosen the spelling “Adalyn” (which is an actual variant of Adeline/Adelaide) I wouldn’t think it’d be as tacky. Why the double Ns? Do people think they look more feminine?

Tee on

Soph, you do realize that all names are “made up” at one point or another, right?

I think the names they chose are beautiful. Very simple and lovely!

Bancie1031 on

Congratulations to Chris and Deanna Daughtry! I actually forgot that they were expecting!

I personally love the names that they chose! Beautiful names! I can’t wait to see a picture of them ….. does anyone know where I can find a picture of their older children Hannah and Griffin?

Soph – No they didn’t make the name up because my neighbors have a daughter names Adalynn (and she’s 13 or 14) …… And trust me they don’t know Chris or his wife.

Bancie1031 on

Mandy – here is the definition for you —— Carried by a gestational surrogate = The babies were conceived via IVF and — due to Deanna’s partial hysterectomy four years ago — were transferred to a gestational surrogate who will carry them to term.

CelebBabyLover on

Mandy- I’m guessing the babies are biologically Chris and Deanna’s, since the only reason Deanna couldn’t carry babies herself is because she had a partial hysterectomy (that’s where they remove the uterus, and leave the ovaries.) four years ago.

Anyway, congrast to them!

Anonymous on

In what possible sense are these twins a gift of God? They should be thanking science.

Allie-Rose on

Soph – the name is not made up at all. It’s usually spelt with one N, though. I could be wrong, but my assumption is that it’s a modern version of the old German-French name Adeline, which is itself made up of the names Adele and Lind

Congrats to Chris and Deanna!

lil on

Beautiful names. They compliment each other wonderfully. Best of luck to Chris and his wife.

sara on

Not a fan of the names…Noah James is so boring and I don’t really like the spelling of Adalynn…Adeline (or even Adelyn) would’ve been better imo.

Congrats to them!

Jill on

Soph, kinda missed my point. The comment was made that someone had never heard the name before. You replied that it was because they made it up. I, along with others, said that it is not true because we know people with that name. So your point, that they made it up, is not true because it IS a name……if other people named their kids the name from a baby book (if you look in a book or even on google you will find it)

Georgina on

I dont understand your comments regarding Soph comment that the name Adalynn is made up. Just because someone else has similarly made up the name does not detract from the fact it is made up. Like you say your neighbour has it, and doesn’t know this guy, so obviously they didnt confire over it, therefore the both seperately made it up. Its like other “lynn” ending names Jamielynn or Danilynn, theyre not actual names, they’re two names stuck together to make a new name. Theres nothing wrong with that but Soph is right, they made it up.

And Tee is also correct, all names are made up at some point. So it isnt an issue.

Tee on

Last time I checked, God created the people that invented IVF. So ultimately, why shouldn’t the thanks go to Him?

Right when I think that the comments on this site couldn’t shock me any further, they do. Why in the world would somebody choose to leave a negative comment about what somebody else would name their child or say they shouldn’t thank God for giving them their child? It’s their child and children are a blessing that not everyone is given! I understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion. I really do. I just don’t understand why people can’t word their opinions in a polite way!

Georgina on

Also anyone else find it odd that Hannah and Deanna are so similar? If my name was Deanna Hannah wouldnt be an name Id think to call my kid.

Jaedyn on

Congrats! I love the names. Yes, Noah is common, but I like it a lot. Adalynn is beautifull, although I would go with Aveline a little more. But, both names are very pretty and match!

One more question: Do you pronounce Adalynn AY-dah-lin or edda-lin?

Brookie on

Anonymous- You are clearly an idiot. ANY child is a gift from God. I don’t care of they were dropped on a front step by aliens- a child is a precious gift and you should not be on here taking away from Chris and Deanna’s happiness. Take your angry troll attitude somewhere else.

Jill on

Not to continue…..but I am…..One couldn’t argue that they made up the name because this name and this spelling has been around for a long time. So they didn’t make it up…..if you google the name you can find it and other people have the name and it is in baby books…..so they didn’t make it up. They are not the creators of the name.

Tess on

Is the girl’s name supposed to be pronounced Ada Lynn or is it supposed to rhyme with Madeleine?

Erika on

Bancie1031- here is a picture of them
http://www-hollybaby-com.vimg.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/090110_chris_daughtry_FP_5551562_RIJ_TEENCHOICE_SET2_080810.jpg
hopefully the link works, if not, copy and paste

Kate on

Congrats!!! I am so happy for them.

Sara- Just because you don’t like the name, doesn’t mean it’s boring. I mean your name is sara after all……

Tee on

My guess is that her name is pronounced Adda-lynn.

Allie-Rose on

Considering Adeline is pronounced A-deh-leen (at least on my side of the Atlantic), I’d say Adalynn must be pronounced A-dah-lin

Jaedyn on

If it is, then I like it a lot :) ‘edda-lin’ sounds cute. Better than ‘AY-da-lin’ :)

Anonymous on

Erika – Thanks for the link and yes it worked. I can’t believe how old/big his other children are. I didn’t realize he was just 16 and 18 years old when they were born. Him and his wife waited a while to have more children :)
His children are beautiful and I can definitely see the resemblance.

CelebBabyLover on

Anon- He WAS young when the older children were born, but he wasn’t their father at the time, nor was he with Deanna at the time. Hannah and Griffin are Deanna’s children from previous relationships. So Hannah (whose father is still in her life) is techincally Chris’ step-daughter. Griffin’s father isn’t in the picture anymore, though (if I’m remembering correctly, he passed away) so Chris adopted him.

Anyway, techinically the twins are Chris and Deanna’s first children together.

sara on

Kate – Noah is one of the most common boys names in America right now, that’s why I find it boring…just my opinion.

And yes, my name is boring too and I have no problem admitting that.

PAM on

Enough with all the name comments and whether they are all their biological children. They are FAMILY no matter how the children were born or to whom. Just wish them Happy and Healthy wishes and enough with the negative comments. Some people are never happy unless they have something to bi–ch about.

KT on

Omg! They sound so cute and sweet! I love how Chris D is a singer who seems so down to earth! Both of the names are perfect! Congrats!!!!!!:)

Ally on

Aww congrats. I love Chris Daughtry. He was blessed with two beautiful Scorpio girls. He’ll have his hands full lol. But, take it from a fellow Scorp, it will be worth it :)

Ally on

Oops, I guess one’s a boy and one’s a girl. My bad!

becky on

i found this weird i had a baby on 10-10-10 and named her adalynne rose just with an e on the end.

Leah on

Congrats! I have an Addelyn Rose too born in March of this year…great name. Glad they are both healthy and well!

GA Mom on

Let me assure you they did not “make up” the name Adelynn. My daughters name is Adelyn and it is meant to be pronounced like Madelyn without the M. And Honestly I bet they dont care if you dont like it or if you do think it sounds like a medicine. Its not your kids, so if you dont like the name, dont use it. Simple as that. If you dont have anything nice to say, keep your mouth shut.

Anonymous on

Dear Tee and Brookie,

Obviously I think it is fantastic news for them and I am delighted they have been able to make their dream of a family come true. I just think it would have been nice if they could have thanked the surrogate and doctors in their statement for the vital role they played in enabling it to happen.

Tee – by the same token, God surely created murderers and rapists. Would you blame God rather than the murderer for their actions? I hope not, just as I would hope you would thank the doctors and surrogate for bringing these babies in to the world as much as you would thank God.

Brookie – I think I have a valid point, so don’t see why you have to be rude about me. Ad hominem arguments are not the greatest. Would you speak to your neighbour that way if you disagreed with something she or he said? Or is it just because it’s the internet that you don’t think any rules of normal human decency apply?

t cook on

my nephew’s name is noah james and i think it is so cool! he is awesome and i love that name. congratulations

Jenn on

I am happy to hear that this family has been blessed with twins! I met Chris in Destin FL. Such a nice guy. His wife is a lucky woman!

debra on

Holy mackerel! Some people’s undies are sure in a bloody bunch aren’t they? Can you just offer congrats for the two beautiful babies born to two parents who will love and cherish them? Why all of the nasty comments? If you do not like Chris or Deanna….then just scroll on by this article! Such angry people!

Anonymous on

awe!!!! congrats

kymbeth on

Beautiful names for beautiful babies. Congrats to Deanna & Chris, so happy you chose names that sound normal so that the children won’t be teased when they are older. I don’t like the trend where parents are naming their kids after fruit. Apple Martin, Peaches Geldoff, but maybe that’s popular only with the rich crowd.

Nicole on

Who cares about their names people!!! And, Anonymous….you are an idiot for saying what you said!!!!! But of course, you can’t use your real name, can you!!!! Take that from someone who has struggled to have children for 15 years (unsuccessful, I might add)……so for them to thank God, is something you shouldn’t have an opinion on!!!!

Congrats to the whole Daughtry family!!! What a blessing!!!

Sandy on

What a wonderful blessing Chris and Deanna! It’s so great to hear such great news about you and your family. May this be a very special holiday for you all and may 2011 be a beautiful year for you, too. Chris…you will always be one of my favorites. Your voice is one in a million! It’s great to see you are STILL the same great man you were even before Idol. You and Deanna make the perfect couple and now you have the perfect family! God Bless!

Crystal on

They stole my girl name! Congrats!

Becky on

Love the names and am every happy for Chris and Deanna..As Debra (I think) said, why can’t people just be happy that these two babies have someone that is willing to raise them and take care of them and give them a great homelife..

Traci on

Congratulations Chris and Deanna.

I too have a set of fraternal twins, however; they’re 21 years old now. My twins were born 2 hours 8 minutes apart. My son weighed 8 pounds 8 ounces and born naturally while my daughter weighed 5 pounds 8.5 ounces born via c-section.

I love the names you’ve picked for your twins and I’m sure Hannah and Griffin will be awesome older siblings.

Traci on

Oh Em Gee you people talking about the names need to just halt.

I would assume Adalynn is pronounced like this for example:

AD A LYNN. Get it people?

Now shut up and just be happy for them.

Cass on

Great choice in names! I named my daughter Adalynn in January of 2010. Same spelling and all!
