Jen Schefft Welcomes Daughter Mae Elizabeth

Jason Kempin/FilmMagic

It’s a girl for Bachelorette alum Jen Schefft.

The former reality star, 34, and husband Joe Waterman welcomed a daughter, Mae Elizabeth Waterman, on Saturday Nov. 13, PEOPLE confirms.

Mae weighed in at 7 lbs. and is 20 inches long.

Schefft won second time dad-to-be Andrew Firestone‘s heart on The Bachelor in 2003, then went on to star in her own season of The Bachelorette two years later.

She met Waterman, a trader, on a blind date in 2008 and the couple tied the knot in May 2009.

What a great, classy name they chose! I love it. Congrats!

Beautiful name! It’s interesting that they chose it oppsosed to Elizabeth Mae, which would have been more expected.

Congrats to the couple!

- J on

that’s awesome news, I always loved her! congratuations jen!

- manisha yeager on

Not a big fan of Mae as a first name or its spelling, but hey, not my kid. Congrats to Jen and Joe! So glad she got her happy ending after the Bachelor experience.

- Mallory on

I would have liked the name if it was Elizabeth Mae, but they must think it sounds good. Mae is too matronely and “flat” to me. just my opinion.

- lily on

I don’t care for Mae at all, but Elizabeth is pretty. Too bad they didn’t do Elizabeth (first name) and Mae (middle name). Its an odd pairing and choice but to each their own.

- lily on

LOVE the name, but then again I like old fashioned names!

- SY on

I LOVE this very old-fashioned English name … love the spelling, too. Mae is so unique and not one we hear too often. God bless all three of them! Jen will sure have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving :)

- Sheri on

HA! My friend’s daughter is also Mae Elizabeth. Congrats!

- lizzielui on

A very pretty name for a very pretty mama. Congrats Jen

- weu on

Congrats to her but honestly who cares? Again, why does a ‘Bachelorette alum’ get a nice story and others like the Duggars, get nothing? Anyways, congrats to the couple on their new baby.

- Mandy on

I love the name! Beautiful and classy. Congratulations, Jen!

- Corrie on

I really dislike the first name but I love the middle name.

And I still can’t believe I sat through her entire disappointing season of The Bachelorette. I still wish I had my 12 hours back.

- Rose on

I think Mae Elizabeth sounds adorable! I’m wondering if they will call her Maisie. I could hear something really sweet like Maisie-Beth!

- Elle on

love the name! good to see jen and andrew each found love and started families, albeit not with each other. mae has a very pretty, old-fashioned, but beautiful ring to it. i’m a sucker for old-fashioned names. much classier than some of the more popular names these days.

- kmb on

Congrats to them! I’m not the biggest fan of the name, but it is simple and elegant which I like.

- Brooklyn on

I love the names Mae and Elizabeth! I know a little girl Jane Elizabeth and a preemie named Brittany Mae.

- Demetria on

It’s not my favorite name, but I like it because it’s normal and not over-used.

- gdfg on

I always said that if I had a girl I would name her Mae Marie. I love that name.

- Nancy on

Some people seem to think Mae should ONLY be used as a middle name, along with Rose, Marie, etc. Good for them, I love seeing those predictable middle names as first names.

- soph on

Not a name I’d choose but she’s her daughter, not mine, & it does flow nicely I think, pretty ring to it, and it’s not out-there! Prefer this spelling of first name, as opposed to ‘May’. Congrats to the new parents. Glad she found happiness with her hubby and now a baby girl! She was the same birthweight/length as my daughter.

Mandy- Who cares? A lot of people, obviously! Otherwise there wouldn’t be 19 comments on this post! And it could be that the Duggars and others have actually requested that they NOT be featured in articles here on CBB.

Oh, and I love the name!

I love the name Mae!

I think the name is fine, but I’m used to it as my cousin’s name is mae…. spelled the same way. But then again she is adopted from Thailand… But I still think there are worst names so this is nice!

- lisette on

Congratulations to the happy couple, may your future be fill with laughter, joy, and happiness.

As for the name I love it my best friends name is May Elizabeth after her mom who past away giving birth to her, so I really really love the name. She was an amazing women, an inspiration to both us to this day, as I hope your daughter will be one day to many.

Wishing the new family all the best.

- simi on

There is an adorable, little actress on the show Parenthood whose name is Mae Whitman. She is about the age of my oldest daughter (21) and I think the name is very pretty. Plus, the middle name goes with it well. :)

- Lilianne on

Wonderful name, short and sweet. I am about to go on a blind date to and trust that things will work out for me as it did for you.

- Merlyn on

Congrats to them, I like the name, it’s very classy.

Not like the Duggars having a baby is news anymore anyway; Mandy are you the Duggars’ PR Rep or something?

- Angel on

I always liked her. Cute name, congrats!

- Shannon on

Congrats to them! I love the name Mae. There is a little girl with red hair at my kids’ school who is named Mae. She is a doll and the name seems to fit her perfectly.

Mae Elizabeth is a beautiful and classy name.

- Allison J on

Lisette, how is the fact she was adopted from Thailand relevant? Is Mae a popular name in Thailand?

- gdfg on

I can sorta see Mandy’s point. Some people are complaining because Bristol Palin is not a celebrity and should not be on DWTS. Jen Scheft is not really a celebrity either but nowadays, it doesn’t take much to be one. Why wasn’t Carrie Prejean on CBB? At least she was a beauty queen.
