Catherine Bell Introduces Son Ronan

Omar Cruz

Catherine Bell‘s 11-week-old son Ronan is already working on a megawatt grin rivaling his mother’s.

“I tell him how handsome he is and he just smiles!” says the Army Wives star who delivered her baby boy via c-section on Aug. 21.

“He’s the sweetest little boy. He’s so easygoing and not fussy at all. He’s full of smiles.”

Bell — who is also mom to daughter Gemma, 7½, with her screenwriter husband Adam Beason — says motherhood the second time around is a breeze.

“I’m more relaxed and I’m enjoying the experience so much more,” she explains.

“When my daughter was born, if she started crying I’d jump out of my seat and go, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s crying, is she okay?’ With this guy, I’m not dropping everything and running into the bedroom. I’ll just finish what I do and go and pick him up.”

She also has the assistance of Gemma, who has turned into a “second mommy,” the actress notes.

“The first time she saw him in the hospital, it was the most beautiful thing,” Bell, 42, recalls. “Gemma came over and held him and started crying. It was so sweet. She loves to cuddle him and feed him.”

Bell, who gained 28 lbs. during her pregnancy, credits “breastfeeding, working out, eating well and having one treat, not two” with helping her lose the weight.

“It feels good to get back in shape,” she says. “I put the baby in a sling or baby carrier and go for long walks or walk on the treadmill. It’s a great bonding experience — he usually falls asleep on me and I get the extra 10 lbs. for my workout.”

The JAG alum — who lives in Charleston, S.C. with her family — is back at work, filming a Lifetime action movie in Detroit that her husband wrote. She can next be seen in The Good Witch’s Gift, premiering Nov. 13 on the Hallmark Channel, and returns to the set of Army Wives in December.

“Life is pretty wonderful,” she says. “I have a great family and a great job. I feel so blessed. I’m savoring every moment.”

Adorable baby…beautiful Mom…pretty little girl…handsome Dad. :) And may I say that I LOVE the name Ronan?! I first heard it while watching Stargage Atlantis. One of my favorite characters was named that, Ronan Dex..played by the very sexy Jason Momoa. Lol. :)

Bancie, you’re right — Adam & Ronan even share the same pointy hairline!

Your son has your beautiful smile; some people’s lips curve downwards when they smile but there is something very guileless about you because your lips curve upwards when you smile. I really envy your hubby; he has such a surfeit of beauty to behold all the time.

- James on

It is so nice to see a Hollywood actress with the decency to actually get married before having children.

Beautiful family!

- Rosie on

AWWW Congrats to the Beason clan!! Ronan-very cool Irish name (as I am Irish too) ;) CB is my favorite actress since JAG-love her in ARMY WIVES and GOOD WITCH movies too :) Now she has an action flick coming too!! Cant wait!

The family is absolutely the cutest!!! Ronan is way too precious for words- he will have Daddy’s looks *lucky kid :) Gemma definitely has mommy’s looks (again lucky kid :) ). Sweet family pic and look forward to seeing CB in her upcoming projects!

- Kristen on

Beautiful children!!

Rosie, way to through a dig in, known to start drama. Decency? Is there a book of standards that I missed that says to be a decent person you must be married first?

- Jill on

“Rosie, way to through a dig in, known to start drama.”

??? What in the world does that say?

- gdfg on

Congratulations to Catherine, Adam, and Gemma on the newest arrival to your family. You’re a cutie-pie Ronan. You’re gonna love being a part of this amazing family. Super parents and a kind sister! Your Mom is a captivating actor. Just love her work!

- Jubellant on

your baby is so cute love him soooo cute

- danielle on

No Jill, but I know a couple of other books you missed…

- J on

Not sure how her being married or not has anything to do with a post introducing her second child.

- Ashlee on

Oh my gosh, I cannot get over how CUTE baby Ronan is!

- sm on

“I put the baby in a sling or baby carrier and go for long walks or walk on the treadmill. It’s a great bonding experience — he usually falls asleep on me and I get the extra 10 lbs. for my workout.”

This is why I can’t understand people saying they cant afford, or don’t have time to exercise after baby. Exersice can be as easy as putting the baby in a sling and going for a walk (even if the walk is the weekly shopping trip to the grocery store) or taking the stairs instead of the elevator, simple, everyday things that don’t take much time, money or effort.

I actually made a deal with a friend once when I needed to drop some weight, and borrowed her baby for 45-60 minutes 3-4 days a week for a couple of months. I got good exercise with built in tummy toning and a good cuddle, and she got a break to take a shower or have a cup of tea. The baby got fresh air, a change of scenery and a nice bounce and cuddle session. As an added bonus, the baby and I got to know each other, so that I could do some emergency, or non emergency, babysitting.

- MiB on

Sorry, I’m a bit cranky today. I should definitely head out for a walk to walk off some of the negative energy :)

I also wanted to add, I love that new born stare Ronan has in the first picture, it’s so adorable!

- MiB on

Gdfg, the wonderful automatic spellcheck on the iPad……known should not be there and I don’t know what it should be!

J, I am good! I don’t need books on how to live happy life or any books…. but some posters sure do! I am very well educated….just have to figure this spelling/grammar on the iPad out!!

- Jill on

Now THIS is an article Marisa Jaret Winokour should read about relaxing and enjoying a little more lol. Very cute little baby, and I found the same thing so true about the second child.

- Romy on

Just adorable :)

- Marija on

Jill, Rosie’s comment was perfectly polite and she has every right to state her opinion. Quite frankly, I agree with her. It’s nice to see a celebrity that has gotten married before having children. The only person throwing a dig in is you.

Romy, maybe Marissa is a little bit more high strung but I’ve never gotten the impression that she doesn’t enjoy her family life. Do you mind me asking what gave you that impression?

- Tee on

Please don’t think I’m trying to be unkind, but honestly, Jill, I’m just having a hard time understanding what you’re trying to express. I’m not sure what you mean about the iPad (I don’t use an iPad), but I suspect good old-fashioned proofreading would help you get your points across better.

- gdfg on

gorg mom and baby
CB is classy all the way; love her chemistry with Elliott in JAG and want them to work together again.

- Agnes on

Tee, I just meant she is always so stressed and self doubting. I was saying that when you relax and accept situations you can enjoy things more. I am sure Marissa enjoys her family.

- Romy on

Tee, I disagree. To infer that someone most be married to be decent is rude. There are many unmarried parents that are not decent. And you are right…..she can express her opinion….as can I! I think it is a dig to say that you are decent to get married! Just my opinion.

Gdfg, I thought you couldn’t understand my point and I realized my iPad changed a word. Didn’t have tons of time before hitting post…..oh well….others did get my point….and that is you don’t have to be married to have a child in order to have decency., which is how I took her statement. My opinion…she stated hers, we are all entitled to them….. I see at least once a week digs at unmarried parents….they are just as good as the married ones!

- Jill on

Jill- I agree with you! And I know just what you mean about the Ipad changing a word! I don’t have an Ipod…but I DO have a cellphone, and it has a feature where, when you start typing a word into a text message, it tries to “guess” what word you’re typing. The suggestions appear at the bottom of the screen, and you click on the right one and it inserts the word automatically.

Well, sometimes, when you’re in a hurry, it’s easy to forget to check to make sure you have the correct suggestion highlighted before you submit it! LOL!

Also, I don’t get why some people around here feel like they need to be the grammer police (and no, gdfg, I’m not aiming that at you. It’s a general statement, since I’ve seen other commentors doing the exact same thing). Nobody has perfect grammer all the time. People make typos sometimes. Big hairy deal! Also, we need to remember that people from all over the world comment here….so not everybody who comments has English as their native tongue!

- CelebBabyLover on

CelebBabyLover, I agree with you about the grammar police to an extent. Everyone makes typos here and there and it’s not a big deal if it’s just one word–BUT I get frustrated sometimes because some of the posts have so MANY grammatical errors that I can’t understand what the poster is trying to say! It only takes a few seconds to reread your post and make sure it makes sense. Of course, some posters might not care, and that’s their choice I guess.

- gdfg on

Cbl, exactly!

- Jill on

He is adorable!! congratulations

- JoAnn on

CONGRATULATIONS, Catherine, Adam, and Gemma on your new arrival Ronan, I am glad to hear that everything is going so great for yourself and family!
