Monica Says Sons Were ‘Very Patient’ on Tour

Frank Micelotta/Getty

Like all working moms, Monica says she’s striving for balance.

To that end, when it became apparent that sons Rocko, 5, and Romelo, 2½, had grown weary of life on the road Monica knew instinctively it was time to make a change.

“They have been very patient throughout this tour,” she points out to the Los Angeles Times, “but my 5-year-old just said, ‘Mama, I love the bus, but is this almost over?’”

For the R&B singer, 29, the choice was clear.

“That means it’s time for me to give them my undivided attention for a month or two,” she explains. “[But] I’ll go back in the studio. I want to find that balance again of catering to my relationship, my children and my family. But not disappearing in it the way I have the last time.”

Rick Schroder Credits Kids for Strong Marriage

Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage

For Rick Schroder and wife Andrea, parenthood has only served to strengthen their marriage of 18 years.

“I would say it’s the four children that help keep our relationship strong,” the former NYPD Blue star, 40, tells the Detroit Free Press.

“We talk about the kids all the time, and notice traits they have of each of us. It helps us appreciate each other more.”

The couple was no doubt tested in 2007, however, when their oldest son Holden, 18, suffered a head injury during a motorbike crash.

Schroder says his oldest son is “still recovering,” noting “traumatic head injuries take a long time to heal.”

“We know a lot more now, but it seems like so little is known about the brain,” he adds. “It changed our whole family because we experienced how fragile life can be.”

Denise Richards Shares Daughter’s Red Carpet Reveal

Landov

Dinnertime is family time for “hands-on mom” Denise Richards.

“We have dinner every night at the same time — a homemade meal — and we just talk,” the mother of daughters Sam, 6½, and Lola Rose, 5, reveals in Mom‘s Fall issue.

“My girls are always saying funny things; they pick up a lot when I think they aren’t listening. The other day Lola said I looked ‘spectacular,’ which I thought was funny for a [5]-year-old.”

But according to Richards, 39, Sam and Lola’s uncanny sense of timing extends far beyond the dinner table.

“While at a red-carpet event, my daughter she told me — quite loudly — that she’d passed gas,” the Mother’s Little Helpers actress laughs.
