She’s growing up fast!

Poet Sienna Rose Goldberg, 5, looked to be catching up in height to 5’1″ mom Soleil Moon Frye as the family visited Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch in West Hollywood, Calif. on Saturday.

The actress and Little Seed owner was joined by husband Jason Goldberg and their younger daughter Jagger Joseph Blue, 2½.

Amy on

That girl is way to old to be carried.

Hea on

This is either the tallest daughter or the shortest mom I’ve seen in a long time. haha

marieke on

You are never too old to get carried.

mommyof2 on

omg she is a very tall 5 year old!! but super cute

Jill on

A child is never too old to be carried and snuggled!! I wish I could still carry my 8 year old godson/nephew, but I can’t hold that much weight now……But when I can, I will for sure hold him again! For now, he jumps in my lap and snuggles. Time with children is precious and you never get it back.

Tess on

Kids can definitely be too old to be carried. I agree with Amy.

Karen on

Cute girls! I just don’t get their name choice for girl #2!

kim on

Uh, 5 is not “way too old” to be carried – especially when you are being chased by photographers. Geez, Amy.

Jacqui on

Enlighten me. Why is it wrong to carry a five year old?

Jill on

So what is the age that a child should stop being held?

Brooke on

I carry my 6 year old nephew around of we are in a crowded place. Maybe Poet had just skinned her knee or was scared of something and needed some mommy reassurance. Not too old at all.

Jacqui on

Why can’t you just carry a kid (even a bigger one) to be close and cuddle and because it’s fun? Why is that problematic? I seriously do not understand. If you can physically do it and both parties are game, what’s the issue?

Alya on

I don’t see what the big deal is about carrying her daughter either. Maybe they were just cuddling for that instant. In addition, that place is known to have photographers lurking. Maybe it gave the little girl a sense of security.

Jen on

I, too, would like to know what is wrong with carrying a child? She’s happy, healthy and loved. What could be so wrong about holding her in your arms while walking? Please enlighten us, all those who are so against it.

Sam on

I knew as soon as I saw this lovely picture that there would be comments about the child being too old to be carried. WHAT???? I carry my seven and four year old grandchildren whenever I want and no one will ever tell me either is ‘too old’ – except them! This is a beautiful picture of mom and daughter, love it!

steph on

I knew some fool would make that comment…for a start, how do you know she’s carrying her child for a long period of time? Add to that the fact that there is no actual rule about when parents should stop carrying their children and you sound so petty. I don’t get why this is a judgement issue…its not exactly nappies vs cloth, so why the big deal/random negative comment?

Jen on

Is she ‘to old’ to be carried, or is she old enough to know the word is spelled ‘too’?

Kristen on

HAHAHAHA, again with the same…gosh!

I carry my almost 7 yo, my almost 5 yo AND my 2 year old whenever they want AND whenever I feel like it.

Sarah M. on

Hea – I think it’s both. Poet is tall and Soleil is kinda short!!

As long as both parties are okay with it, I see nothing wrong with older kids being carried. I didn’t see one thing in the comments with the latest Hugh Jackman post where he is holding/carrying Ava. And she’s the same age as Poet.

Anna on

If she wants to carry her child she should. It just looks strange to carry a child that is so big and can obviously walk.

Catherine on

OMG that child is WAY too old to be carried. What was Soleil thinking? Does she not realise hos this will interfere with the forces of gravity meaning we will all eventually fly off in to space? Not to mention the effects this will have on the climate. What was she thinking, so selfish!!!

Sharon on

OMG cmon!! cant a 5 year old walk by her self!! I wont be carrying my little one when she turns 5, Not only is she old enough to walk her self, but i dont think my back could handle some one that big, NO MATTER how much i love the little munchkin!!!!!!

Hea on

I think it’s a cute picture. Soleil looks a bit worn though.

Tess on

Too old as in too big. And they’re not being chased by photographers who are “lurking” there. Both mom and kid are smiling, and surely mom at least knows that photographers are always around that pumpkin patch. I know that just from seeing a million celeb pics from there every year, so I doubt the kid was scared at all. They could have gone to a different pumpkin patch if they wanted to avoid the cameras.

Anna – good post.

erilynne on

How tall is the father?

Also, I don’t think a 5 year old is to old to be carried, it just depends on their height that makes the illusion that they are either A.) tall so it makes it seem they should walk or B.) they look younger then 5 cause they are shorter so they go unnoticed.

MiB on

Maybe they just wanted a cuddle? Maybe it was just a bit of fun? Just because she is carried in the picture doesn’t mean she was carried around all day, photos are after all just images of a second in our lives, and the situation might have changed radically just moments after (as in Poet walking again). I doubt Soleil carried her for a long distance, after all, she is quite small and poet is quite big. I have carried my even my older charges for a bit every now and then, because they have hurt themselves, because they were feeling sad or sick or under the weather, because we wanted or needed a hug, because I finally caught them and didn’t want to let them go!

Molly on

Guess what Sharon, not every mother is like you! Grow up and I doubt you are a mother because a real mother would never say they wouldn’t carry their own child.

CelebBabyLover on

Molly- Some mothers prefer not to carry their older children (and that’s what Sharon was saying. She said she wouldn’t carry a child Poet’s age, NOT that she wouldn’t carry a child at any age!). Nothing wrong with that! That being said, I agree completely with the rest of your comment!

Holiday on

My older child will be 5 next month and sometimes I carry him around. Before I had my daughter 5 months ago I used to carry him around quite a bit.

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
