Spotted: Lisa Loeb and Lyla’s Farmer’s Market Fun

Baby Lyla Rose cuts her teeth on some veggies while at the farmer’s market with Lisa Loeb and dad Roey Hershkovitz on Sunday in Santa Monica, Calif.

Lyla, 9 months, is the only child for the singer/songwriter and her husband, a music production supervisor.

“We’re trying to get her to sleep on her own instead of getting her to fall asleep before we put her down,” Loeb, 42, confessed recently.

“Sometimes this whole sleep thing is like a hazing ritual for new parents. And the thing is, no one warns you about it. It’s crazy!”

The Project Runway judge and Marie Claire fashion director prefers leather leggings and body-hugging tunics instead.

“Comfort is an issue when you’re expecting, but I think there are a lot of options out there,” shared Nina Garcia at good pal Heidi Klum‘s Lavish and Loved fall collection preview during New York’s Fashion Night Out on Sept. 10.

“Even though I’m pregnant, I feel very comfortable and easy in pants. Also, drapey T-shirts and longer silhouettes really work for me.”

Katie Holmes: Suri ‘Is a Light’ on Set

A film set might be Katie Holmes‘ office, but when daughter Suri is nearby it hardly seems like work.

“It’s really fun to share making a movie with her,” the Romantics star, 31, tells Access Hollywood. “She brings so much to it.”

Because she is homeschooled, Suri, 4, is always able to travel with mom or dad Tom Cruise and at the end of a long day, Holmes says there is nothing better than being reunited with her daughter.

“She is such a light that you instantly feel better,” Holmes explains. “When I’m working, I feel like, ‘Wow, this is so magical I get to share this with you, and you give me so much.’ It’s really fun.”

BumpWatch: Christina Applegate’s Paisley Pregnancy

A casual — and barefoot! — Christina Applegate hit the beach with fiancé Martyn Lenoble as he participated in the Surfrider Foundation‘s 5th annual celebrity expression session, held at First Point on Saturday in Malibu, Calif.

The couple expect their first child this winter, and Applegate, 38, says she’s experiencing all the classic pregnancy symptoms.

“I’m textbook right now. I’m like everything you read in the books, I’ve got it all,” she laughs.

Baby on the Way for Tony Kanal

Hey baby hey baby hey! The No Doubt family is growing.

Bassist Tony Kanal and his girlfriend Erin Lokitz have a baby on the way, the band confirms in a statement posted to their Web site.

The pair are “extremely happy to announce that they are expecting their first child early next year. The couple is overwhelmed with joy and excited to meet their new little one.”

“We’re feeding our baby a healthy diet of Bob Marley, The Clash, Prince and of course No Doubt,” Kanal, 40, adds underneath a photo of Lokitz’s pregnant belly sporting headphones.

So far, the band’s babies are a brood of boys: Gwen Stefani is mom to sons Zuma, 2, and Kingston, 4, Tom Dumont has sons Rio, 2, and Ace, 4, while Adrian Young is dad to son Mason, 8½.

Matt Damon: Wife Luciana Is ‘Over Being Pregnant’

Bring out the protective body suit.

Adding a fourth child to the family this fall, Matt Damon says he’s happy to be used as a punching bag for wife Luciana to release her discomfort as they head into the home stretch.

“We’re in the third trimester and basically I’m just dodging punches right now from my wife,” Damon told PEOPLE at the premiere of Hereafter at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday.

“That means I have to work on my defense and I never know when a left hook or a right cross is going to come. She’s completely over me and over being pregnant.”
