Spotted: Jennifer Garner and Her Budding Bookworm

Ramey

Looks like someone’s discovered a love of books

Violet Anne Affleck, 4½, totes a Nancy Drew paperback while running errands with mom Jennifer Garner on Sunday in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Joining the pair was younger daughter Seraphina Rose Elizabeth, 20 months.

Although we’ve spotted them spending lots of family time together lately, Ben Affleck sat this trip out — he’s across the pond, promoting his latest film, The Town, at the Venice Film Festival.

Violet’s dimples are so adorable–just like Mom’s. :)

Also: it must be the striped shirt, but Jen looks preggers again!

LOL, I’ve given up speculating on whether or not Jen’s pregnant. They’ll tell us when they’re ready if it’s true!

But I’m not sure if it’s the shirt because there’s been other outfits the past few weeks that she looks pregnant in, too.

Yay for Violet reading!

- klutzy_girl on

Wow…Violet is reading Nancy Drew??? That certainly is impressive! Good for her!

- Jennifer on

Yeah I’m done speculating. If its true, we’ll know soon enough. Seraphina looks like a doll in that photo. Too cute! Wow that’s great for Violet reading at such a high level for her age. Way to go mom and dad!

- Mandy on

Such a cute family.

- Julie on

That IS impressive. Nancy Drew is around a 9-12 grade reading level.

- Linda on

I am sooooo sick of people speculating on celebrities being preggo.

Jen & her girls look great!

- Karen on

It looks like she’s reading the Nancy Drew Clue Crew series, which my 8-year-old daughter reads. They feature a younger Nancy and are skewed towards kids rather than teens – chapter books but easy to read. My little girl used to ask me to read them to her when she was Violet’s age and now that she can read them herself she still enjoys the series. Good for Jen and Violet.

- Kristin on

Love them!!!

Jen is pregnant…..I think this puts her at about 18 months pregnant, I think…….

- Jill on

“Nancy Drew is around a 9-12 grade reading level.” What?? I started reading the regular Nancy Drew’s around grade 1/2. I would say they are around a 4/5 grad level.

“Nancy Drew Clue Crew series” Probably.

- akajb on

Jen might be reading them to her

Our seven year old fell asleep in bed with her CC copy just this weekend. After he tucked her back in, I started needling my husband about liking the Hardy Boys back in the day. Yeah, his mom should’ve never told me that!!! Good times on a Saturday night!

- Erin on

hahahaha Jill, good call.

- kmb on

Jill- ROFLOL! Anyway, the girls are adorable! Also *gasp* (read with sarcasm!) Violet is walking in the picture of her! :)

- CelebBabyLover on

I don’t think Jenn is pregnant …. I think it’s the shirt.
I love the first photo of Jennifer and Violet, they look so much alike :D
Violet and Seraphina are so adorable Jennifer is as pretty as always :D

- Bancie1031 on

yeah, can we all stop with the pregnancy speculation please? it’s childish and annoying and hurtful. you wouldn’t say it about people you knew if they had a little bit (and i mean only a tiny bit) of a belly. i’m glad jennifer doesn#t feel she has to be stick thin, but she may soon feel that if every time she leaves the house someone calls her pregnant.

- JM on

I just love her and the love she lavishes on her daughters. I think if you look closely…you can see her Super Mommy cape peeking out. Every time we see her, I think, “Well Done!”

- aurora mia on

They are all such lovely ladies! Jen seems like such a hands on mom that I have no doubts these girls will grow up happy and well rounded.

- Lila on

this is one of my favorite families. the girls are just to cute! i love that violet reads. i hope they get sera to read like that to.

- Lauren on

Adorable family! Jennifer seems so down to earth and looks like such a great mother. And thank God I’m not a celebrity because I look more pregnant than her and I’m definately not.

I don’t think these pictures were from the same outing though. In the 1st pic, Seraphina is nowhere to be seen and Jen isn’t holding that backpack but has a pocketbook. In the 2nd picture, Violet isn’t anywhere in the picture and Jen is holding the backpack not the pocketbook.

- Erika on

When others speculate that Jennifer Garner must be pregnant, I never see it; she just looks pretty normal to me, even in this photo. The photo in the link to the Huffington Post, which is also at E News, makes me say that this time she actually is pregnant. I say this because the rest of her body looks quite thin compared to her belly, and there is a distinct puckering of the shirt around the belly that doesn’t happen around the shape of a belly full from a big meal. All of this makes me guess that it is the earlier stages of a baby bump. Only time will tell, though I hope it is true because those babies are adorable!

- H on

Erika- Well, Jen has the same clothes on in both pictures (even her necklace is the same!). It could be that Violet is behind her (or even beside her. It’s a pretty close-up photo, so Violet could have just been outside the range of the frame) in the second picture, and that Sera wasn’t in the first picture because a nanny was holding her. :)

- CelebBabyLover on

AWWWW! I love this Family! I remember the Nancy Drew books from when I was a little girl. Makes me feel rather old actually :) And Sera is JUST PRECIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- Brookie on

Yes, I was thinking myself, that Violet is one advanced girl! But I imagine she just picks up whatever strikes her fancy. I’m sure her mom will be helping her out with her reading. Seraphina gets blonder everyday.

- Terri on

I think that while it’s possible that Violet is very advanced and reading Nancy Drew on her own, it’s also entirely possible (and more likely) that her mother is reading chapter books to her, including Nancy Drew. I have brought along many books to read to my 2 1/2 year old while out and about and waiting for something – like a restaurant or in a car repair shop. Either way it shows a love for books which is to be commended.

- Elizabeth on

JM, I completely agree with you! The majority of women DO NOT have washboard stomachs! The pregnancy speculation is rude and I hope Jennifer doesn’t read the comments on here.

- gdfg on

OOPS I when I said 9-12 grade reading level, i meant 9-12 YEAR OLD reading level. In other words, 3-6th grade. Whether Jen is readin them to her or she’s reading them, I see that she always carries books around with her places she goes and that is great.
