Here comes the sun!
Ashlee Simpson-Wentz enjoys a hot summer day with her son Bronx Mowgli, 20 months, in Encino, Calif., on Saturday.
“[I do] Bronx Pilates,” Simpson-Wentz jokes. “And these [points to her biceps] are from holding him. He’s in my arms all the time.”
Bronx is the only child for the singer/actress, 25, and husband Pete Wentz.

For new dad Ty Burrell, stepping into the role of Phil Dunphy on Modern Family is anything but a stretch.
“I’m more neurotic than Phil, but I screw things up just as much as he does,” the actor, 42, reveals in Redbook‘s September issue.
“At this stage, my parenting consists of being a pit-crew member, where I step in and I wash and feed.”
Earlier this year, Burrell and his wife Holly welcomed their first child, 6-month-old daughter Frances, through adoption and according to the doting dad, the addition has taken their relationship to a whole new level.
“There’s lots of problem solving in any marriage, but when you have this collective goal that is a human being, it’s an inspiring rally point,” he explains.

Are the Alves-McConaugheys expanding their family?
Model mama Camila Alves and son Levi, 2, carry a cat out of a veterinary clinic in Malibu, Calif. on Saturday after reportedly adopting the fuzzy pal.
Dad Matthew McConaughey followed closely behind, carrying a litter box for the new pet.

He’s getting so big!

It’s not always easy to get your kids to read. But a bit of encouragement always helps!
If your little ones are starting to face the end-of-summer blues, consider signing them up for the National Learn-to-Read Challenge, a six-week program that starts today, and is designed to keep kids reading through the first days of school.
“We want people to begin the journey to becoming great readers,” former PBS personality and campaign spokesperson Miss Lori tells PEOPLE Moms & Babies. “If you can step into the beginning of the school year on a solid foot, it will really help your child as time goes on.”
The challenge, sponsored by Reading Eggs, hopes to reach 50,000 families by Sept. 30.

Father-daughter date!
Joey Lawrence takes his eldest daughter, 4-year-old Charleston, to Disney/Pixar’s World of Cars Online launch event, held at Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank, Calif., on Wednesday.
In addition to Charlie, the actor, 34, and wife Chandi are also parents to new baby Liberty Grace, 5 months.
Lawrence’s latest sitcom, Melissa & Joey, premieres Tuesday at 8 p.m. on ABC Family.
