James Otto Welcomes Daughter Ava Katherine

Gomez

It’s a girl for James Otto!

The country singer and wife Amy welcomed daughter Ava Katherine Otto at 9:23 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24 in Nashville, Tenn., his rep tells PEOPLE.

Ava weighed in at 8 lbs. 2 oz. and is 19½ inches long.

“We can’t believe Ava is finally here! She is beautiful like her Mama and I am already wrapped around her tiny finger,” Otto, 37, said in a statement.

“I am so grateful I made it home in time to be here for her arrival — it has truly already changed our lives.”

congrats to them. i wish them a lifetime of happiness and health for their them and their daughter. babies bring so much joy. don’t like the name, just my personal opinion it’s too boring, but i’m sure they don’t care and why should they? she’s their little bundle of joy and it’s up to them. hope the family is resting and enjoying their time together.

Aww congrats to them! I didn’t know they were due so soon. But I’m sure she is so beautiful and will be a wonderful addition to their family. Little girls are so wonderful. It feels like there have been so many boys born to celebrities lately, so I was surprised to see a girl announcement. I love it when I see these big masculine men have baby daughters, there is no bond like a father daughter bond (or a mother daughter bond- don’t want to discriminate lol) and it’s so cute to see. And I love the name. I would rather see Ava than Apple or Peanut.

Congrats! Doesn’t seem like she was too “moosey” so looks like James got his wish. :)

Ava Otto. Somebody loves palindromes!

Beautiful like her mama? Well yes, but she wouldn’t exactly be hard on the eyes if she looked like dad either lol! He’s hot IMO.

Whoa! James wasn’t kidding when he said they were expecting her to be born within the week! Congrats to them!

I love the name. My newborn baby girl is named Kathryn too.

Some friends of mine just had a Grace Katherine 2 weeks ago! I like Grace and Ava, but agree that they are used quite often now. Grace as a first name is refreshing and Katherine isn’t used very often anymore.

Congrats to the new little family!

I second that opinion, torgster! Very handsome indeed:). They make a very beautiful couple!

Really? They named her Ava Otto? That sounds like Avocado…what are parents thinking these days with names?

- Cici on

Cici it’s Ava, pronounced with the long A sound. Not Ah-Va.

Wonderful news! I have grandaughters with names of Ava Grace, and Cathryn, so that name flows beautifully in my opinion. James Otto autogtaphed my pre-published manuscript that I named after my favorite song by him back in October of ’09. He’s even better looking up close and personal ladies. Very sweet guy…and he’s huge…I mean tall, built…huge in a good way. I told him I’d send him a copy of the book after I published and he said that’d be great because his wife loved to read. How sweet was that??? Best wishes to their happy little family and hope they stay that way!
