She may be long done with The Bachelor, but Melissa Rycroft isn’t closing the doors on her days as a reality star quite yet.

Due with her first child in February, Rycroft wouldn’t be opposed to a documentary following her and husband Tye Strickland‘s journey as first-time parents.

“I watch Bethenny Getting Married? I don’t know if it’s as women or what, you’re just kind of drawn to someone having a baby and going through the process,” the expectant mama, 27, tells PARADE.

“I don’t know what’s about to happen in the next few months with my body and my relationship, there’s going to be so many changes. It could be a fun process to have everybody watch us go through a scary time like that, but it could also be a train wreck!”

That said, experiencing her first pregnancy in the spotlight has been nothing but “the best of both worlds” for Rycroft.

“We can go through it at home and then come out and tell people what we’re going through,” she says.

“It’s such an exciting time, and we were very excited to announce it and excited to find out all the little things of what it looks like, is it going to be a boy or a girl … I’m sure we will share our journey just because we’re excited, but I don’t know how much of it that we’ll share.”

And although the pregnancy took the couple by surprise — “Once we got over the initial shocks … it quickly faded from those fears to just excitement and what a blessing that this was handed to us” — the former Dancing With the Stars contestant jokes Strickland embraced the attention.

“He’s good about it and kinda loves the fact, especially with exciting stuff like this, that everybody knows it,” Rycroft laughs. “It makes it feel more real and he gets random calls at his office and random e-mails from total strangers just wishing him congratulations on the pregnancy.”

I’m awfually confused. How can Melissa possibly shoot a reality show right now? Isn’t she supposed to start hosting The Bachelor Pad soon?

kmb on

the bachelor pad was already filmed, or at least is almost done filming.
i would definitely watch a show with melissa going through the process of pregnancy. i agree with her, it’s really intriguing to watch shows like “bethenny getting married.”

i would not want to watch a show about her pregnancy. who is she anyhow? a contestant on a tv show? really, i don’t get why she’d even pitch a show unless she thinks she’s really a star now.

Have to agree with the last few posters, most definitely!!!! I get the feeling she would love to experience ANYTHING in public. She’s one I wish would just go away; of course I feel that way about most of the Bachelor folks!

I have to agree with all the above posts. I get a little annoyed with these reality show stars who actually think of themselves as accomplished and/or interesting. At least Bethenny had a successful career plus a smart, interesting personality BEFORE going into reality TV which is why people are interested in her show – Melissa (as well Kate Gosselin and others) did not as far as I know.

I watched the Bachelor Pad and am trying to figure out why they need two hosts. She does not need to be on. I don’t think she is doing a very good job as the host and I think her time in the spotlight should come to an end. I am happy that she found happiness, but spend this time with your husband and pregnancy.

I will never understand the people on the Bachelor/ette. Why do they have to rush into all their relationships? I don’t watch the show but as far as I can tell this woman was chosen my a man, got dumped on the finale, was supposedly heartbroken, immediately found another man, immediately fell in love, quickly got married and immediately got pregnant. This does not sound like a recipe for life long happiness. If she is really happy in her situation, she shouldn’t need the rest of us following along with her.

ecl- Actually, that’s not quite how it was. I’m a PEOPLE subscriber, so I’ve read all their articles about Melissa. She had actually known Tye Strickland for a long time prior to doing The Bachelor and I think (this is the part I don’t remember for sure), they even dated for awhile, but then broke up.

The the Bachelor happened, and after Jason dumped her, she and Tye reconnected. He helped her through that heartbreaking time, and they ended up getting back together. So she didn’t exactly “immeditely” fall in love with him or “immeditely” find another man. She simply reconnected with a guy she’d known for a long time.

Also, ecl, why don’t you believe she was really heartbroken when Jake dumped her (you said “was supposedly heartbroken”)?

ecl on

Maybe she was, maybe she wasn’t, but it’s hard to see how you can be heartbroken over some guy you barely know. Disappointed, yes. Embarrassed, yes. But you have to be in love to be heartbroken and there just wasn’t enough there yet to be in love. (No, I do not believe in love at first sight. It is something you actually have to build for awhile that involves trust).

kelly on

CelebBabyLover – you are correct. They actually dated before she was on the Bachelor. She broke up with him to be on the show because she wanted to start her career in entertainment. After she got dumped, she got back together with Tye.
