Paul W.S. Anderson: Ever’s a Delight on Set

Kyle Rover/Startraks

For Paul W. S. Anderson, filmmaking is a family affair.

The writer of all four Resident Evil films, who directed the first and returned to the director’s chair for the most recent installment of the franchise, has shared his pet project with longtime love Milla Jovovich – now his wife and mother of their daughter Ever Gabo.

“It was one of the pleasures of making the movie, to be honest, was getting to have my family around me at work and then at home as well,” Anderson told PEOPLE Moms & Babies recently at a press meeting for Resident Evil: Afterlife at San Diego Comic Con.

Now that the director and his actress wife can add “parenting” to their list of shared projects, Anderson is delighted to have his whole family on set.

“I wouldn’t let [Ever] come to set when the zombies were around ’cause I didn’t want her to have nightmares,” Anderson explains. “But she’s certainly enjoyed coming around all the sets, and she’s very much growing up as a kind of movie child.”

The toddler could one day follow in dad’s directing footsteps. At just 2½-years-old, she’s already a pro on set.

“She knows if she wants to sit on set and look at the monitors, she has to be quiet,” Anderson said. “She wears her headphones, and she tells me, ‘Daddy, there’s a lot of cables. You have to be careful of the cables.’ So she’s a real delight!”
