Ali Larter — who’s due with her first child early this winter — poses with pal Amy Smart in a ruched and fitted LBD at Thursday’s Communities in Schools shopping event, held at ARCADE Boutique in Hollywood, Calif.

The actress, 34, just recently announced her pregnancy after keeping it under wraps into her second trimester.

“It was a very private time for me and my husband and something that I just wasn’t ready to share, so we actually left the country for a while,” Larter explains.

While I like hearing of celebrity baby news, I come to this site after all, it kind of makes me sad to think that the only way they felt they could keep it private for very long was to go to another country. It seems like celebs are getting less and less privacy with their lives anymore. (I realize that they choose the profession they are in, so they should expect to have some parts of their lives public. But no matter WHO you are, no matter WHAT your profession, everyone wants/needs some privacy in their lives. Some stuff that’s just for them.)

Sarah M, I agree but I really don’t think she had to leave the country. She could have hung out in another state and no one would have known for months. If it were someone like Angelina Jolie, they’d have found her anywhere, but I think Ali Larter could’ve just left Los Angeles/California and been fine.

SadieA – That’s true! Some states are DEFINITELY worse than others. Maybe they were just looking for an excuse to visit another country for awhile. (Not that they needed one, mind you.)

Angela- Actually, I interpret her comment to mean that they weren’t ready to share the news with ANYONE yet, including family and friends, and that they simply wanted to be alone together for awhile. Maybe they felt that going to another country, where no one would know who they are, would be the best way to do that.
