Christina Applegate Steering Clear of Pregnancy Surprises

When it comes to experiencing pregnancy for the first time, Christina Applegate is sticking to the books — and skipping any surprises!

“I’m textbook right now. I’m like everything you read in the books, I’ve got it all,” she revealed during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night.

She says her morning sickness has been “so bad” — but it’s her mental state that seems to keep the actress on her toes.

“Anyone who has been pregnant knows exactly what I’m talking about,” she jokes. “You kind of go a little cuckoo. It’s almost out of body, you’re stepping back from yourself watching this insane monster in front of you that’s you and you want to stop her, but she’s also funny to watch.”

And when it comes to playing the name game, Applegate, 38, and her fiancé Martyn Lenoble have decided to hold off until baby’s arrival.

“You have to look up more of the foreign looking names or name it Zuzu or something,” she laughs, before adding the couple are likely to steer clear of Hollywood’s exotic name trend.

I love this interview! She’s down to earth ;)

I think shes gonna have a girl too! When my mom had my brother, she had no morning sickness whatsoever… But when she had me 4 yrs later, she had terrible morning sickness!!! Congrats Christina!!!

Christina looks so beautiful, she is just glowing! She deserves all the happiness in the world after all she has been through! Now she will have a wonderful husband and beautiful baby! I really admire her more than any woman in Hollywood! My best wishes to you Christina!

I’m so glad she’s having a textbook pregnancy, after all she’s been through she deserves it!
I would guess girl but it’s more based on how she appears to be carrying. She’t still early yet though. I’ve had two girls and a boy and I was far more sick with my son than either of my daughters.

i had very little morning sickness with my daughter when i was pregnant at 18. but when i had my son three years ago when i was 35, i was so sick i could barely get out of bed, make it to work a full day, and never wanted to leave the house. i also had spotting till i was six months pregnant for no reason. everything was fine and no ultrasounds could detect why. i swear that prenancy just sucked everything out of me. i was so tired and had no energy. i dont know if it was cuz i was older, even though i wasnt that old, but it was not easy. i have heard many woman tell me they had much worse morning sickness with boys. but i guess everyone is different. i wish christina a healthy pregnancy and baby!!!! congrats to both her and martyn.

She is glowing!! However, this is the 2nd black dress I’ve seen her in this week–hopefully she’ll choose some color in her upcoming maternity wardrobe! :)

I don’t think morning sickness equates to either a boy or a girl. I have talked to way too many people about this and most of the experiences fluctuate and change with the person. Some people who have had girls get really sick and some who have boys get really sick. I always hear people saying if a woman gets acne during her pregnancy then she is having a girl but I just had a friend who had a baby that had the worst acne during her pregnancy have a boy. I think it’s just old wives tales running a muck on peoples minds! Just like that dang Chinese horoscope! It’s 50/50 either way! Don’t buy into it!! I don’t think it matters. My mom was super sick with her boys. My aunts who had all girls had no sickness. My best friend that just had a boy was fine with him but sick with her girl. Another was sick with her boy but fine with her girl. It doesn’t matter.

I think she’s having a girl as well, but not because of how she’s carrying or the fact that she’s having bad morning sickness. I just get a “girl vibe” from her for some reason. Also, I’m guessing she’s not due until December at the very earliest.

I also hope she isn’t feeling (or being made to feel, knowing how we women can be at times!) guilty about the fact that she won’t be able to breastfeed (since she had a double-masectomy).

Hope she has given up smoking.

even though i was much sicker with my son than my daughter, i dont think what we are having makes us sicker. i think its our hormones. even after i had my son three years ago, my cycles get abnormal every couple of months and it makes me sick and feel natious like i am pregnant when i am not. its my hormone levels. i also crave everything too!

I am just so happy for them! A baby is a blessing for any family but it seems so much more special given everything that Christina has gone through, especially given her fairly young age.

- Tee on

Sorry ladies, there’s no correlation between symptoms and the baby’s gender.

I’ve always loved Christina and am so happy for her and her fiance. It’s about time she’s had a little happiness in her life.

I love it that Christina finally has the love and the future she wanted! I really think Martin ( dutch bloke) is the best for her, considering the fact that he stood by her side during the cancer thing, while they weren’t dating for that long! So it shows he’s the one! I’m hoping she will get a boy, because the cancer thing can be genetic and I don’t want for her to feel guilty about it, because some of my friends feel guilty for passing the gene on to their daughters. But either way, It will be a beautiful child :) ! Best of wishes to you both

Ahh, the old wives tales of pregnancy. Morning sickness has nothing to do with having a girl. When I was pregnant with my daughter I did not have one day of morning sickness. As a matter of fact, I was not sick once during my pregnancy. If it wasn’t for the bulging stomach I would not have even known I was pregnant.
