Melissa Rycroft Expecting First Child

Melissa Rycroft is going from ballroom to baby.

The former Dancing With the Stars and Bachelor contestant is expecting her first child with her husband, insurance agent Tye Strickland, her rep tells PEOPLE.

“Apparently Tye and I wanted to see how many life-changing events we could fit into one calendar year,” Rycroft, 27, jokes to Good Morning America‘s Robin Roberts.

“From getting engaged, married, new job, and we are now pregnant.”

Before delivering in February, Rycroft will co-host the upcoming reality series Bachelor Pad with Chris Harrison.

Ha! I love that she has a sense of humor about how fast she got pregnant after everything else that’s happened with her in this past year; that’s hilarious : ) I was going to say “wow she sure didn’t waste any time!” Lol but she beat us all to the punch! congrats to melissa and tye!!!! everything happens for a reason!!!! i am so happy she didnt end up with jason in the end. i saw on access hollywood last night that she took 15 pregnant tests because she didnt think she was pregnant!!! thats funny!!! i had the same situation and took 2 home tests and then went to the dr and took one before i believed it. i had cramps and pms symptoms and swore i wasnt pregnant. but out came our healthy son 9 months later i bet she will be a great mom!!!! they said her husband wanted a girl, so i hope its a girl!!!

@Ashleigh, I’m married and we use 2 forms of birth control. If I were to become pregnant, I’d be absolutely FLOORED! So I totally understand how Melissa could be shocked.

I never watch the Bachelor but I did watch her on Dancing with the Stars and really enjoyed watching her dance. Children are an amazing blessing from the Lord. Congratulations, Melissa and Tye! I look forward to hearing how your pregnancy is going!

Ashleigh-
It can be a total shock to find out you’re expecting. I was on birth control (never missed a pill and never took it late) and found out through my doctor that I was six weeks pregnant. I had no idea. Unfortunately, following a car accident I miscarried. That’s beside the point but yes, it can be a complete shock.
