The woman who sued the airline for hearing loss…seriously? Get a grip! If that were true or possible A LOT of us Moms would be totally deaf, that’s the dumbest claim I’ve ever heard. I hope that airline didn’t give her a penny, that’s ridiculous.

I do believe the nap nanny’s instructions specifically state not to use the NN in a crib. Even if it didn’t common sense should have stopped them from using it without properly supervising the child. I have heard many complain about finding their babies hanging over the side so maybe a better harness system would be better for that product.

The story about the woman going partially deaf is rediculous. First of all, I highly doubt that the infant was 4 inches from her face. Airplanes can be tight, but unless the mother of this child was trying to hold the infant to this woman’s ear, I doubt it was THAT close. Here is information about noise induced hearing loss http://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/hearing/noise.asp
I HIGHLY doubt that the baby was able to make enough noise to cause any hearing problems. The lady was older, maybe she’s just losing it? lol

I’m sick of recalls being issued for lousy parenting.

I babysit for a child who has a nap nanny and right off the bat I could tell putting it in a crib wasn’t a hot idea plus like someone else pointed out it flat out tells you not to use it in a crib.

Same thing with most of the drop sided cribs, they have shown that all of the deaths could have been prevented if the crib had been installed correctly (some parents had put the rail upside down) or the parents had checked the screws and other compartments on a regular basis. Again why are we recalling something and trying to outlaw something because some parents are too lazy to properly care for their children.

I don’t think either of you ladies read the actual article….it seems to suggest they were boarding at the time, and while 4 inches is a bit of an exaggeration, when you’re all bunched up trying to board, people can get ‘intimate’! If that baby was held on the parents’ shoulder, the person behind could’ve been pretty close. Anyways, from what I read, IMO the complainant was probably stretching the lawsuit to the limits of believability, but it doesn’t seem as ridiculous as this site makes it seem from the one line description.

Not really sure what I wrote to suggest I didn’t read the article, but I still find it ridiculous.

This woman was obviously out to get money, I still don’t see how she even sued the airline or how it’s their fault in any way, hell why not just sue the kid!! :) People are sad.

jessicad – I agree with you. The reason I thought you hadn’t read it was because there was some legitimacy to her claim and the reactions here just didn’t seem as though you guys realised that. Doesn’t matter though, all is cool :) . She was very obviously out to get money, but there was a medical situation at the same time. I absolutely agree with you on who she was suing though, how can you possibly regulate a baby crying? Madness!
