Lauren on

Co-sleeping has always been a controversial topic, but even I was shocked by how many Kourtney’s post last week generated. I’m a big snuggler, so the sweetness of snoozing with your baby beside you is not lost on me. But at the end of the day, it’s a danger I’m not willing to risk. Much as everyone can claim they “know” not to roll over onto their children, in that unconscious state, you really can’t “know,” and the babies who are dead as a result of this practice are a tragic testimony to that. I don’t see what’s so wrong with attaching a bassinet to the bed. Mom can easily roll over, nurse the baby without waking up too much, and put baby back, and the baby gets the comfort of sleeping with its parents. I don’t see why this, like most other controversial parenting topics, has to be an all-or-nothing situation. Almost always, there is a compromise that can satisfy everyone.

Mom Said It

"It helps that other moms had said that once they had their babies, they forgot they were ever pregnant. So once my focus became the baby and not the pregnancy, it was a very easy decision."
