Robin Thicke Takes Son’s Advice for New Album

Robin Thicke‘s creative juices are flowing and the first-time father is crediting it all to Julian Fuego, his 11-week-old son with wife Paula Patton.

“Every time I’m with him or see him, it brings up so many new thoughts and feelings in me,” the singer/songwriter, 33, explains to Essence.com.

“I’ve been writing because there are some amazing things I want to talk about and they are all coming out of me at an amazing pace.”

And not only is Julian his number one inspiration, but he’s also Thicke’s biggest critic!

“Some of the best moments are when I’m holding him and I start singing my new song to him — if he cries, I change it … and if it soothes him, I go ahead with it.”

Sarah McLachlan to Daughters: Pursue Happiness in Choosing a Career

For Sarah McLachlan, there is no decision to be made when it comes to whether or not she will push daughters India Ann Sushil, 8, and Taja Summer, 3, to pursue a career in music.

“I’d encourage [my daughters] to do whatever they want that makes them happy,” the songstress, 42, tells Parade. “There are two schools of thought: forcing them to take music lessons or letting them do what they want. I’m going to let them try everything and see what happens.”

India — for now — is showing an interest in swimming, so McLachlan says she is “letting her do that as much as I can.”

“It’s really exciting for my career because I’ve been away for my pregnancy,” she told PEOPLE Moms & Babies at Thursday’s Follow the Sun Summer Party in New York City. “I’m really excited about coming back.”

“Amazing! I think she’s amazing,” Lima says. “I wish my body was in shape right away like her! I’m still not where I want to be right now but I’m working on it.”
