Padma Lakshmi: Pumping Feels ‘Very Bovine’

Albert Michael/Startraks

For Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, returning to work just six weeks after the birth of daughter Krishna Thea, 4 months, has been a lesson in multitasking.

“I’m nursing right now while eating a sandwich, having my hair and make up done and talking to you,” she tells PopEater.

To bolster the breastfeeding relationship, Lakshmi goes on to reveal that she’s currently taking fenugreek supplements and that she avoids pumping whenever possible.

“I don’t like to pump, I’d rather just nurse,” she explains. “Sometimes I have to, but I’m not into the pumping. It feels very bovine.”

Lakshmi’s enthusiasm for motherhood is a different story, however. “It’s such a primal feeling,” she notes. “It’s so deep and intense.”

“Everything is better with her around,” she adds. “Anything from the beginning of the day till the end.”

Angelina Jolie Doesn’t Want Her Family to Get Too Big

Courtesy Vanity Fair

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have built a large family, and despite the rumors, it’s not likely to get too much bigger – as the actress is concerned about having enough time for each child as they grow up.

Asked if she and Pitt want a seventh child, Jolie, 35, tells Vanity Fair: “We’re not opposed to it. But we want to make sure we can give everybody special time.”

It’s easy when they’re small, she says, and don’t require much emotional support. But as they get older, “they’re going to need a lot more talking in the middle of the night, like I did with my mom for hours. We want to make sure we don’t build a family so big that we don’t have absolutely enough time to raise them each really well.”

Salma Hayek Pinault: Adam Sandler Sets Great for Kids

John Spellman/Retna

When it came to making her comedy debut, Salma Hayek Pinault was more than happy to put her faith in Adam Sandler‘s latest film, Grown Ups.

“I said yes to this movie at the beginning just because I am an Adam Sandler fan and I really liked the script, and I am glad now this is my first big comedy,” the actress tells The Vancouver Sun.

“You want movies your children can watch, and also that your children can have fun with, and enjoy the experience of shooting it.”

And according to Hayek, that goal was met — and surpassed! — when it came to bringing 2½-year-old Valentina Paloma, her daughter with François-Henri Pinault, to the set.

“Adam makes it like the dream environment to have children there,” Hayek Pinault, 43, laughs.

“They make it so highly entertaining, but you’re nervous when you think about going back home because you wonder how are you going to entertain your child that way.”
