Sheryl Crow Celebrates New Priorities As a Mom

In the July issue of ELLE, Sheryl Crow opens the door to her New York City loft while discussing life as a mom.

“He changed my life completely,” the songstress, 48, confesses of son Wyatt Steven, 3. “I’ve really put roots down with him. His happiness is my priority.”

As a result, Crow — also mom to Levi James, 7 weeks — says that her enthusiasm for flea market “junking” has waned.

“One thing I’ve learned about children and antiques is that you just have to let go,” she admits.

Her love of the loft remains strong, however.

“Everybody in this building either grew up here or raised their kids here, and you can just tell that this is a place that has held a lot of life and a lot of good memories,” she says.

The location is also hard to beat! During the interview Wyatt welcomed August Hermann, 4 this month — son of Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay — for a playdate, but Crow says that her Nashville farm continues to win out. Pointing to Wyatt, she notes,

“Look at him, he’s like a Labrador — he needs to be outside, running around.”

As the mother of an aopted baby I know the joy she is feeling and wish her all the best. Wyatt is beautiful and I’m sure he will be a great big brother. I wish more celebs would adopt and give the millions of kids waiting for love a fighting chance.

1baby, Sheryl adopted healthy newborns (at least one of them is white) these babies almost never end up on wait lists. There are wait lists for them.

I’m happy for her she got her family. It’s a brave decision to make to have kids knowing you’ll be a single parent.

Manal- What makes you think Levi’s African American? I’m honestly just curious. Anyway, I’d like to see a picture of Levi, but I doubt there are any pictures of him in this particular magazine. The reason being that Elle is monthly magazine, and most montly magazines take three to four months to come out. So the interview and the photos were probably done before Levi joined the family.

I’m pretty sure Sheryl Crow’s adoptions were domestic adoptions . . . and they were healthy infants when they were born . . . so they would have had a ‘fighting chance’ regardless of whether or not she adopted them. Because they would have been adopted by someone else if she had decided not to adopt them.

She may be releasing photos of Levi (like she did with Wyatt as a newborn) as an exclusive to a magazine and donating the fee to a charity. Either that, or the photos were taken before Levi was born.

Sara- Actually, I think it’s both. As I said in my previous comment, Elle is a monthly magazine, and monthlies generally do their interviews and photoshoots about three to four months in advance of publication. So most likely Levi hadn’t joined the family yet when these pictures were taken.

I also, however, have a feeling that Sheryl will release Levi’s photos to a magazine, just as she did with Wyatt.

I always wondered how the biological parents must feel when their kid is adopted by a celebrity and you can actually see your child growing up, seeing him/her with a new mum, a new dad. I mean, you can choose not to find out who adopts your child, but what if you don’t?

I’m sorry, this doesn’t necessarily belong in here, it was just a question that popped up in my mind and I wonder what you guys think?

It’s for sure though that Sheryl seems like a wonderful, loving mum and I wish all of them the best.
