Christine Taylor Takes on ‘The Nagging Wife’

Michael Kovac/FilmMagic

While stepping into character can be a challenge for any actor, Christine Taylor had to dig extra deep for her latest role as ‘The Super Villain’s Nagging Wife’ on Phineas and Ferb, alongside husband Ben Stiller.

“Our kids are such fans of the show. Ben had met the producer and they asked him to do an episode. We’re sitting there chatting … and they say, ‘Wait a second. Would you do a line or two for us?’” she told PEOPLE Moms & Babies Wednesday at a Project A.L.S. benefit in Los Angeles.

“And then ‘Nagging Wife’ comes about and I thought, ‘Wait, is that how I come across?! Was I putting out some bad energy or something?!’”

Although the couple’s kids Ella Olivia, 8, and Quinlin Dempsey, 4½, were thrilled with their parents’ participation, Taylor, 38, jokes she was caught off guard — by both the offer and her character’s name!

“I was just there for support. I’m the one that knows Dr. Doofenshimrtz’s lines, not Ben!” she says, adding that Ella and Quinlin were impressed by her spot-on acting as she is “super sugary-sweet at home.”

“It ended up being very funny, and our kids loved it, because they love seeing me do unrecognizable things. They thought it was hilarious.”

Nicole Sullivan Anticipates Frightening Future with Sons

Jamie McCarthy/Getty

She’s been a mom of boys for almost three years, but nothing scares Nicole Sullivan more than what her future still holds.

“I’m terrified of them jumping off roofs,” she tells Babble of raising sons Dashel Pierce, 2½, and Beckett Edward, 7 months.

“[Then after that,] I have to deal with them bringing little tattooed 18-year-olds home, in those shorts you see at Abercrombie & Fitch. Like who fits into that? They look like baby clothes!”

And while she believes it’s “really important to raise independent children,” the former Rita Rocks star, 40, already has a tight rope on her brood, starting with keeping her two sons far away from television!

“It turns them into monsters!” she explains. “Even the cute shows. [Dashel] watches a half hour, and all of a sudden, he’s picked up three things I don’t want him saying!”

Mini Must-Have: Harlow Madden’s Pretty Cardigan

Fame

Stepping out for a drink after her weekly dance class, Harlow Madden, 2, looked oh-so sweet in her lavender cardigan and pastel-colored tutu on March 25.

To get the dish on her too cute outfit, we did some sleuthing and discovered she’s wearing the Two Button Flower Cardigan ($12) from Gymboree.

Talk about cheap chic!

The cozy cotton sweater features a pretty floral embroidered design along the neckline and ruched front pockets — perfect for ballet or the playground.

Nicole Richie (and Harlow!) must be a big fan of the line. We also spotted the adorable tot wearing their tiered tulle skirt ($23)!

Jennifer Lopez Was Never ‘Desperate’ to Have Children

Devan/INF

Unlike her character in The Back-up Plan — who becomes a mom via artificial insemination — Jennifer Lopez says that conceiving twins Emme Maribel and Maximilian David, 2, required no drastic measures.

“I always wanted kids and I wanted a family, but I never got to the point where I was desperate and trying everything,” the actress and singer, 40, tells USA Today.

Making the film was a labor of love for Lopez, who calls pregnancy “a magical and romantic time.”

Noting that “when you really live it, it takes on a different color,” she adds, “it was great to have the pregnancy and go out and do a movie about pregnancy right then.”

Jennie Garth: ‘I Honestly Love’ Being a Stay At Home Mom

Gregg DeGuire/PictureGroup

Her turn on 90210 may have come to an end, but Jennie Garth says she’s happy for some much-earned downtime.

“I worked really hard for many years, and now my life is more about doing things that give back,” she tells Time Out New York Kids.

Those who stand the most to gain? The actress’ three daughters Luca Bella, 12, Lola Ray, 7, and Fiona Eve, 3½.

“I also want to be with my kids, to be around while they’re eating breakfast, to make them lunch; they’re my priority,” Garth, 38, explains.

“I’ve seen what you can get out of this business, and Hollywood is really just a big facade. I honestly love being at home with my kids.”
