Joel Madden Grateful for Harlow’s ‘Honest Reaction’

Kevin Mazur/WireImage

Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden has legions of fans eager to act as a sounding board for the band’s upcoming studio album, Cardiology.

At the end of the day, however, Madden says it is his 2-year-old daughter Harlow Winter Kate whose opinion he values most.

“She says yea or nay when I record a demo,” he explains in a new interview with the Los Angeles Times. “She gives me the honest reaction.”

Happily proclaiming himself “the best I’ve ever been,” Madden is acutely aware of just how much he has to be grateful for in fiancée Nicole Richie, Harlow and the couple’s 7-month-old son Sparrow James Midnight.

“I have two kids that are my life — they’re my entire world,” he says. “I have an awesome partner who is really supportive; She makes me the best version of myself that I’ve ever been.”

Of that commitment to his family of four, Madden explains, “I think you can decide to be the best dad and partner you can be, or you can run from it.”

Noting that “it’s a heavy thing when your life changes,” Madden, 31, says it has ultimately been a change he welcomes.

“My kids make me feel good about myself,” he insists. “I’m not really worried about succeeding or failing.”

Melody’s First Easter

I cannot believe Melody is already five months! Holy moly, everyone says time starts to really fly when you have children but I never imagined like this.

It’s really important to me that I document Melody’s every step as much as I can, so when she is older she can look back on all her adventures and know how much her mommy and daddy loved her from the start.

I love taking pictures of Melody, especially her “firsts”. This Easter was Melody’s first and even though she is too young to paint Easter eggs and go on hunts, I still wanted to make it a memorable one for her, for pictures’ sake.

Caught Caring: Padma Lakshmi Swaps Feel-Good Tips for a Feel-Good Cause

Britney Joe/Startraks

Look good, feel good — isn’t that what every woman wants?

For new mom Padma Lakshmi, the sentiment has never been more important, and she’s asking women to share their feel-good tips for an even better cause.

Log on to DialSoap.com and sound off on what makes you feel beautiful and the company will donate $1 to the Top Chef host’s charity of choice, The Endrometriosis Foundation of America.

Lakshmi, who was diagnosed with the condition in her mid-30s, tells Moms & Babies that “it is the number one cause of infertility in women … It’s not curable, but it’s totally treatable. And many women who suffer from endometriosis go on, like me, to have healthy pregnancies and healthy children.”

“Like any chronic pain, it has effects on your mental state, on your spirit, on your emotions because of all the hormones. And all of that is unnecessary.”
