It’s a boy for Lisa Leslie and husband Michael Lockwood, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.

Although the retired pro basketball star wasn’t due to deliver until May, Michael Joseph Lockwood II weighed in at 7 lbs., 13 oz. and 21.5 inches long upon his birth at 3:21 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6th.

Baby MJ, as he will be called, joins big sister Lauren Jolie, 2½, as well as Mikaela, 15, and Gabrielle, 18, Lockwood’s daughters from his previous marriage.

Former LA Sparks star Leslie, 37, announced the pregnancy in December.

Wow. It’s kinda weird that so many babies are coming a month before their due date (Liberty Lawrence, Julian Thicke, for example) but congrats to them!

For a baby that came a month early 7lbs 13oz and 21.5 inches is kind of big. I wonder if maybe they miscalculated her due date since at that weight and length MJ would actually be considered full term.

Going by MJ’s weight, I’m guessing that either the due date was mis-calcultated as TV suggested, or else she intentionally gave a false due date in order to throw off the media.

I think that’s what Robin and Paula may have done as well. As far as Liberty Lawerence goes, from what I read, her mother was diagnosed with some type of medical disorder while she was pregnant (I forget the exact disorder), so I’m guessing that’s why she came early. 🙂

You have to remember that Lisa is a basketball player. She and her husband are both BIG people. Of course their child will be long and probably weigh more. Also, I read on another site that Lisa’s sister talked to where she said he was early.

About Julian, Alan Thicke said in his statement that he was early, and why the heck would Robin have concerts with Alicia Keys scheduled if the baby was due? He had to cancel on a Staples Center concert, that’s a LARGE crowd.

I believe both babies were early.

Two siblings named Mikaela and Michael? I guess their father must really like his name 😛

People need to remember that some babies are heavy & big at birth, and if those babies were born early they would fall into “normal” weight ranges & lengths. It does not mean that the due date was miscalculated. People forget that some babies are large. And as the previous poster mentioned, we are talking about 2 tall parents here. Big babies run in my family and we were 100% certain about my babies due dates (all 3) and all 3 were born premature but healthy. The large size helped them. There is no way my dates were off, due to things like planning, *very* early ultrasounds, testing, etc. Yet my babies were all a healthy size, Thank God! So please do not assume this woman lied about her due date.

I am 4’9″ and delivered two healthy boys one month early. One weighed 6 lbs 8 oz. and the other weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz. Makes sense that a basketball star can have a big baby one month early!

A friend of mine had a 7 1/2 lb, 20in baby 7 weeks early. They know from tests, and his lack of lung development, that he was indeed that early, not miscalculated due date. It happens. Plus, yeah, she’s tall, I’m sure her husband is. And its her 4th, they usually get bigger as you go.

I didn’t even know she was pregnant again.. Congrats to them..

ams- Actually, MJ is only Lisa’s second child. The two older girls, as stated in the post, are Michael Sr’s children from his first marriage (when they said, “Lockwood’s two children….” they meant Michael, as Lisa’s last name is Leslie. :)). 🙂

Congratulations to them both. And btw I was born 8lbs 6 ounces and starting to feel freakishly big based on these reactions.

My son was born almost a month early and he was 7lbs 10ozs…so, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the calculations were wrong, but that babies are being born at higher birth weights. Probably has something to do with the food that we eat and the steriods that are put in them.

I had my daughter 3 weeks early and she weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long. I am 5’10 and my husband is 6’4 my due date was correct according to all my U/S I just had a big baby. They said if I would have carried her to term she would have been 9-10 pounds. Some people just have big babies does not mean the due date was wrong or they lied about the due date.

Well, I had my small baked chix compared to everyone else. 3.9 lbs. And they let her come bome at 3.12 lbs. I had Coach bags bigger than her. Second one…36 wks…5.2 lbs…came home at 4.12…lost a few oz. More than made up for it within the first month. Now, he is 6…wears size 5 shoe and size 5-10 boys clothes. Not an inch of fat on him. Go fogure…

My 2nd baby was 3 1/2 weeks early and was over 7 pounds…. I am positive of his conception date! I think people should stop trying to make a story where there isnt one…. IMHO. 🙂
