When Dad’s a pop star, every minute of the day comes with a soundtrack.
“There’s always music in the house,” says New Kids on the Block’s Joey McIntyre, who lives in L.A. with his wife, Barrett, and their sons Griffin Thomas, 2, and Rhys Edward, 3 months.
But from the day he came home, the youngest McIntyre has heard little of it.
Rhys failed a routine hearing test at the hospital after he was born Dec. 13th, the couple tell PEOPLE, and extensive follow-up tests at UCLA showed that he had severe hearing loss.
Says Barrett, “What’s wild is we will never really know how [anything] sounds for him.”

Reality star and Baby Phat CEO Kimora Lee Simmons has a message for women everywhere struggling to lose the baby weight: Ease up!
“I’m not the Hollywood mom that says you have to be a size two by tomorrow,” she tells MomLogic.
“I don’t think what you see in the magazines is what you should strive to be like, because all those images are heavily retouched.”
Simmons, 34, adds, “It’s more about your mental, emotional and spiritual stability … You should be comfortable at any size or any age. Whatever you have, you should be proud of yourself, because it’s not easy to be a mom.”
Making that job more manageable, however, is Simmons’ steadfast devotion to making lists.
Admittedly “very OCD” both at work and at home, she make no apologies for her tendencies!
“I have three kids, so I want to know what’s going on,” Simmons points out. “I want to write everything down so I don’t miss anything.”

With the arrival of daughter Liberty Grace earlier this month, Joey Lawrence has his hands full — of girls!
Between newborn Libby, big sister Charleston, 3 ½, and wife Chandie, the actor tells Pregnancy that he’s been able to glean “amazing insight into what makes women women.”
“You don’t know that much when they’re 15 or 20 or 25,” jokes Joey. “But being able to see one grow up from birth is really amazing. Girls are incredibly intuitive and sensitive.”
Of course, it helps that the actor is a great dad to begin with.
“I couldn’t imagine a man more suited! He’s so sensitive, caring, understanding and patient,” raves Chandie of her husband.
“We’ve known each other since we were 16, and I’ve gotten to see him grow up, as he has me. And to now see him with his daughters — it’s amazing.”
It’s also quite the job! “It’s so much work! It’s incredible how much work it is,” notes Joey. “It’s the most rewarding thing you could ever do, but it never ends!”
“My best friend told me, ‘Parenting is the hardest job you’ll ever love,’” Chandie adds.
