Padma Lakshmi Wants to Pass Down Jewelry to Daughter Krishna

Clark Samuels/Startraks

There goes maternity leave.

A mere month after giving birth to daughter Krishna Thea, Padma Lakshmi is already back at work.

But this time, she’s not hosting a food competition. The Top Chef host is debuting the third season of her eponymous jewelry line, Padma.

“It’s very botanically inspired,” Lakshmi told PEOPLE’s Moms & Babies at the celebration of her Spring-Summer 2010 collection at Bergdorf Goodman in New York on Thursday.

“There are leaves in it and all of the stones — lemon topaz and pink sapphires — are very earthy spring colors. It’s all very light.”

The new mom also found design inspiration in the kitchen. “I love to use a lot of spices when I cook, so we actually cast a real peppercorn in gold and then just made a bead out of it for necklaces and earrings,” Lakshmi revealed.

It may be a few years away, but the TV personality can’t wait to share her jewelry with new daughter Krishna.

“I would love to pass down my designs. It’s all pretty delicate jewelry, so it would look good on someone who’s 15 years old or 55 years old.”

I personally dont like yellow gold jewelry but Padma’s jewelry line is gorgeous & ageless! Everyone would love it! If Padma ever makes white gold or sterling silver pieces, I’ll be all over them!!

I hope we can see pictures of Krishna (who’s name I adore, btw. I wonder if she calls her baby Kris for short?) soon! The yawn pic was frame worthy but I’d love to see the little girl’s full face!!!

Ariana, I dont think it has anything to do with being successful only, I think all moms, famous of not, like to pass on jewellery to their daughters.

Mom Said It

"I've always wanted more children and [I] had to make a decision: Do I wait to find the right partner or do it on my own? I was open to either gender and started the process two years ago."
