I’m not a mother, but I thought the article about mothers being oppressed, was kind of weird. Nobody is forced to breastfeed or use cloth diapers, and I’m sure a lot of mothers prefer to do so. Others prefer not to. I don’t think it is necessary to tell them that every once in a while they can have a drink, use formula and disposable diapers, because if they wanted to and really felt ‘oppressed’ then they would.

Well on one hand I do agree with her because I have seen/heard lots from the “I stay with my baby 24 hours a day until he/she’s 3 years old” people and that can be opressing espacially for new moms, they need to be told that nannies and daycare are okay if you feel you need them. But she is definitely excessive. Complaining that you are “forbidden” to smoke and drink during pregnancy is just plain weird. When the baby has difformities or health problems because of it she will complain that he needs too much care. *sigh* As noted by many comments, there is a balance between being nonstop with a child and just popping them out and seeing them again 18 years later.
