Congratulations to them!!! I can’t wait to hear the name. Jeez, this family really pops the boys out, huh? I hope Kate has another someday and it’s a girl. A little mini-Kate would be too cute.

robinepowell on

Congratulatios to them. I can’t wait to see what name they pick out. Goldie is now a proud grandma to three grandsons. πŸ˜‰

Liliana on

Congrats to the entire family!

Luna on

I wonder what they’ll name him.

maya on

Congratulation! They are a cute couple – she looks a lot like Elin Woods!

Garfield12323 on

Reading their eldest son’s name again just made me think of something. Is he named after Gene Wilder and Mel Brooks?? Maybe Oliver and Erinn are huge comedy fans?

KellyJS on

Congratulations to them!

A on

Just realized there’s Wilder and Ryder.

Ella on

Aw, congratulations!!! πŸ™‚ Goldie sounds so proud. And she has every reason to be, what with her three lovely grandsons to give love to. πŸ™‚ I can’t wait to hear the name they gave Wilder’s new brother. I bet he’s adorable πŸ™‚ (sorry, I feel very smiley today)

dp on

Wilder Brooks is named after her father and brother who are both named Brooks…cant wait to see pics of the new baby. I bet he is gorgeous!!

Penelope on

Don’t forget the dad is Oliver, so maybe they’re fond of -er names. It’s most likely just coincidence, though. A lot of times people just like a certain style of names. I tend to like names with ‘ay’ in them, for example

Olia on

i was sure it is gonna be a boy! they are cute family!

Jazz on

what an interesting choice! It’s different without being weird and is heard of. Interesting choice

I wish all of the best to for them

Kate on

He’s married to Mary the Paralegal?

Why must celebrities continue to choose outlandish names for their children?? Do they think that because they’re “famous” that their children must suffer the ridicule that comes with such stupid names? Is it pronounced “Boe-de” or “body” ??

Seruosly Hollywood…..BUY A BABY NAME BOOK!!!!

paige procknow on

@Luna They just announced his name! did you read the title? Congrats to the family

sc on

another stupid name, poor kid.

daggy on

Oliver Hudson’s wife looks exactly Elin Nordegren, Tiger’s wife.

sil on

is that really a name? how do you pronounce it?

Emma on

Bodhi is the name chosen by several other celebrities, so while not mainstream it is becoming sort of trendy.

I love that his middle name honors “GlamMa Goldie” just as his cousin Ryder’s middle name honors Kurt Russell.

kmb on

the only other bodhi i have heard of is jenna elfman’s husband.
not a huge fan of the name. but it could be worse, i’m sure.
i like the middle name though- nice homage to goldie.

April on

Amy Brenneman has a Bodhi, and Tom Colicchio’s new baby is Luka Bodhi I think. It’s cute and definitely goes with the hippie vibe the whole family has. I like it.

mp on

Love the name, especially the nod to Goldie. She (and Kurt, in Ryder’s case) deserve it.

MamaTo3BeautifulBoys on

Congratulations! Little boys are so much fun. Oliver and Erinn will love bringing up precious, rambunctious, adorable little guys. I love the unique names. Best Wishes to the new family of four πŸ™‚

Jasmine on

Bodhi is a Buddhist name. Oliver is a Jew-Bu. (born Jewish, practices Buddhism).

Crystal on

I really like the name! CONGRATULATIONS!! πŸ™‚

Wow I grew up watching Goldie, watch her childern grow up, and now watching her grandchildern grow up!! Hummm starting to think I’m getting old lololol Congrats Goldie and family. Many blessing to all of u!!!

KellyJS on

Bodhi is not a name like “Peanut”, it is a real name. You pronounce it “Bo-Dee” like Bode Miller from the US Ski Team (competed in the olympics).

Liliana on

Dana, as someone who had the name on her list of potential choices for son number two, I can tell you that Bodhi IS in a baby name book.

It’s used in Buddhism and happens to mean enlightenment or awakening. Considering I know two individuals, 28 and 2, with the name, I wouldn’t say it was a stupid name only celebrities choose.

Carla on

I don’t think it’s a stupid name at all. I assume it is pronounced like Bode Miller..the downhill skier. Don’t know why some people get so bent out of shape over what someone else names THEIR child. I’m sure nobody told you what to name YOURS.

cm on

ahh! congratulations to all! They seem like such a loving family.

Congrats Oliver & Erinn! Congrats to Goldie as well & Kate too…can’t forget them…but are Goldie & Kurt together? Anyway, congrats to him too. LOVE “Rules of Engagement” Oliver! My hubby & I never miss it! Two boys, what a handful! A good handful. Oh, and both names are great. I love that you guys added in Hawn, how cool is that!?!

And it’s Boe-de…like Bodhishatva? Get it? It’s a great and strong name, no books needed for that one.

michelle on

I think it is a fine name. NMS, but isn’t as outlandish as some. I mean, it is a “REAL” name.

Emily on

I’m kind of shocked people find it strange. I’ve known quite a few Bodhis. Funny side note- Oliver was in Dawson’s Creek, which also had another recurring character….called Bodhi!

Julie on

Wow, Erinn looks exactly like Elin Nordegren! Very pretty. Love the name Wilder Brooks .. not exactly sold on the name Bodhi Hawn though. They don’t seem to flow very well. But seeing as Bodhi is a Buddhist name and Hawn honors Goldie, I approve. πŸ™‚

Jazz on

It’s said bo-dee

It’s actually got an interesting history and there are more Bodhis than you’d think

Actually, MOST celebrities choose very normal names.

If you don’t believe me, look them up

for example, 11 celebs used Ava
only 1 other celebrity used Bodhi as a first and 1 used it as a middle name

Also, compare Bodhi to Cody, Brody etc – it’s a very mainstream sound

Laydacris on

I love how Bodhi Hawn rhymes with his Glam-ma’s name Goldie Hawn. VERY cute!!

Mick Crisler on

Bodhi? Well congrats to the happy parents. And next time, try to lay off the celebratory champagne before you name the child. How pretentious! Someone revoke their baby-making license if that is all the better they can do in naming them.

Tahnee Mann on

LOVE Bodhi. Bodhi & Wilder. What an awesome pair of brothers. Bodhi Hawn after his Grandmother is just a really cool name. I am a huge fan of the name Beau for a boy but I think now i much prefer this more unique version of it.

Jon on

Aww, I like the name, now there are two Bodhi, the one Jenna Elfman is married to and Oliver Hudson and his wife’s, Erin Bartlett’s, newborn son!

Mp on

Yes, like Bodhi Miller and Patrick Swayze’s character in “Point Break”–a perfect name to reflect their So Cal vibe. And an awesome nod to Goldie! Congrats to the entire famiily!

Laydacris, that is cute!

Roxy on

Carla, I agree.

Many times, when a birth announcement is made, some people act like the parents should’ve checked with them before agreeing on a name. Everyone has their own style.

Personally, I dislike many of the names that are listed as the most popular. Hayden/Aidan/Cayden/Hailey/Addison/Madison etc. are not my cup of tea but that doesn’t mean I tell other parents who have chosen those name that they’ve made a ridiculous choice. I’m smart enough to realize that it’s THEIR child and if I don’t like it, I won’t use it for my own.

Those acting repulsed need to grow up. It’s not as if they named him Hitler.

Brittany on

Bohdi and Wilder very different names but they make a good sibling pair

christina on

gagging at the name….but glad everyone is healthy

Seruosly!!! Okay I just couldn’t take you Seriously after you deciced to write down your “educated thoughts”. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA….TAKING A BREATH…….HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Electra on

I like how bodhi looks on paper but now how it sounds. congrats to them.

Rach on

I am from Trinidad and bodhi is another word for this stringbean kind of vegetable, so that can be an appropo nickname !

Kara on

The ignorance of some of the American posters is staggering…so many times, I’ve read horrible comments about supposed “made up” names, when in fact these names are relatively common in a language OTHER THAN ENGLISH.

Anne on

It’s amazing to me how some people criticize a very spiritual name like Bodhi.

The name stems from Buddhism. It is both a sanskrit and pali term. The Buddha was sitting under the Bodhi Tree when he became enlightened, thus, how it is translated. More accurately, it means “to know” or “supreme knowledge”

So, there’s a lot of meaning behind that word and I only touched the surface of it.

I’m not saying this is where they (the Hudsons) got it from, it might have another meaning in another language I am not familiar with. They might have seen Point Break and made a tribute to the late Patrick Swayze. Who knows.

So, to carelessly say it’s a made up name or if the name isn’t “good enough” for the norm just keep in mind that he isn’t your child to name and that they have their reasons for naming their son Bodhi.

Congrats to them, love the name.

Sarah M. on

@ paige procknow – Luna posted her comment on the 23rd and the name wasn’t announced until the 25th. So she did read the title, but the title has changed since her comment was posted.

While I probably wouldn’t use Bodhi myself, I do think that it’s a cute name and have heard of at least a few other other Bodhi’s. Some men, some kids and some babies. It is most definetly not a ‘made up’ name. Just a name used more in countries other than the US. It drives me crazy when people from the US complain about ‘real’ names that are just more uncommon in their country. Comments like some of the ones above are what give Americans a bad name and make people think we’re ignorant!!!

Congrats to the whole family! That little boy is already VERY loved!!

shalay on

Really? People are up in arms about the name Bodhi? Relax. It’s not like they named him Peanut, as someone pointed out. And yes, Bodhi IS a normal name. Maybe it’s not your style, but it’s far from outlandish or unheard of.

The name conjures up a laid back California surfer vibe to me. Maybe it’s because it was the name of Patrick Swayze’s character in Point Break. I love it, and I think it goes perfectly with Wilder.

As for Mick, who suggested they have their “baby making license” revoked because of what they named their son, you have problems. I’m sure there are people who don’t like YOUR name, but it wouldn’t make it right for them to bash your parents for naming you that.

CelebBabyLover on

I, too, can’t understand why people are up in arms over the name Bodhi. As other posters have pointed out, it IS a “real” name. Also, I don’t think it’s anymore “out there” than Wilder. πŸ™‚

Kara- I couldn’t agree more! Just because a name sounds strange doesn’t mean it’s a “crazy” or “made-up” name! πŸ™‚

robinepowell on

While I like the name Wilder, I’m not crazy about Bodhi. Though I have to say, I’ve never heard of a guy naming his son after his mother before, nice choice for a middle name.

AndrΓ© on

Dana, you can’t talk much since you have a boys name… that’s an even worse trend than the “crazy” names, really dislike male names on females.

dee on

Why are you all just assuming that the people making the ignorant and negative naming comments are strickly Americans?

Anyway, I love little Bodhi’s name.

Ryleigh on

My close friend had a baby boy three weeks ago and she has named him Bodhi..much to annoyance of her own mother who dislikes it but i am sure it will grow on her! personally i love the name..

Shoshana on

What a beautiful, significant, strong and compassionate name… Kudos!!!!!

CelebBabyLover on

Andre- Actually, Dana is a unisex name. πŸ™‚ Also, keep this in mind: Even Ashley was once used as a boy’s name! πŸ™‚

essence on

Dee I was thinking the same thing!! Why is everyone assuming that those who have negative things to say about the name are American? There are narrow minded people in every country.

My daughter has a VERY unique name and I have never heard anyone speak negatively about it. Even those who don’t pronounce it correctly have enough sense and “home training” not to say anything bad to me or her. It seems like it’s easier and more acceptable for people to say outlandish things here because they are anonymously on the net.

I have always liked the spelling of this name but now realize I’ve been calling Jenna Elfman’s husband “body” instead of “boe-de” so thank you all for the pronunciation and meaning.
