I think it’s disgusting that they have canceled prom because she wanted to bring her girlfriend. It will encourage hate towards the Gay & Lesbian community because some will see it as she is the reason why the whole grade has to miss out. Ugh!

Agree Lorus. Been reading that story everywhere and it is horrible! Way to TEACH kids.

Agree with you two both. This story really has me upset. I try my hardest to teach patience, compassion and acceptance to everyone I encounter, then someone decides to discriminate in such a ridiculous way. But, and I didn’t read the article, so it may have said this, she and the ACLU is suing the school (school district?). The only thing they are asking (as of the last update I read) is that Prom be reinstated, for the mere fact of what Lorus was talking about. She doesn’t want to be the reason her entire class misses out. Its just crappy.

The story about the baby coming back to life is incredible but after reading the mother’s blog, I don’t know what to think.

She admitted she put her two little ones in the bathtub (16 month old and 3 year old) and turned the water off. Then she left the bathroom to check on her sick 6 year old, got distracted, starting making a bed, putting laundry away etc. Her 6 year old yells that the baby’s drowning and it goes from there. One of the kids ended up turning the water back on in the bathtub so it filled a lot.

Now I’m no expert on parenting but I assume leaving 2 kids under three years of age in a bathtub is a REALLY bad idea. I’m not accusing her of being a bad mother but that was a terrible decision.

I agree with everyone. The prom decision is so ridiculous, regardles of the whole gay thing, why ruin the prom for everyone?! KellyJ, I agree with you 100% you NEVER under ANY circumstances leave small children in the tub unsupervised and as a mother of 4 she should know better! I too ahve a 3 year old and a 16 month old who I bathe together, if the phone rings and I dont have it with me, then o well!

I’m also part of the crowd that was disgusted with the prom story. I can’t wait for the day when we no longer have to fight about gay rights and we never hear stories like this. It just seems so silly to cancel a prom over a girl wanting to bring her girlfriend.

Does anyone think all of this attention will chance the school’s mind. I hope it does because they have to be getting tons of calls
