Spanx Debuts Slimming Swimwear for Spring/Summer!

Courtesy of Spanx

Hiding your “new mommy” bits at the beach or pool just got easier thanks to the new swimwear line from SPANX. Just like the company’s slenderizing shapewear, each bathing suit is designed to slim you down (and hold you in) without making you uncomfortable.

From ruched tankini tops to ruffled one-pieces, all the silhouettes are super flattering. We love the retro-inspired Structured One Piece ($198, above right). Not only does it flatten the tummy, but the grey and black colorblock creates a sexy hourglass shape.

Love two-pieces, but not ready to really go there? Depending on your comfort level, pair the Structured Bikini Top ($128) with a Full Coverage ($78) or High-Rise ($98) bottom to get the look — without showing too much skin.

Realllly wish they’d throw one of these on a size 14 girl to see what it will really do for me. Putting spanx on a size 2 defeats the whole purpose.

It always cracks me up when models they use to advertise ‘slimming’ swimwear are a size 2!!! They don’t have to go to an extreme and show a size 20 woman but a size 8 or even 10 would be more realistic!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE spanx :) lol

that black one isn’t very pretty- I was thinking it was to wear under a dress and thought I wouldn’t even do that-doesnt look very summery

sign me up I love the black and grey one

I really really like the black one, but for 200 bucks that’s WAY over my budget.

The firt posters totally took the words right out of my mouth. If I had the figures of the women modeling these suits, I would be rockin’ a bikini. The suits are beautiful, but the pricing is a little ridiculous. I never have $200 to spend on a swimsuit, I will be lucky if I can spend that much updating my wadrobe for Spring.

- Val on

Just cause they are skinny doesn’t mean they don’t have a pouch ;) I’m thin but you won’t be catching me in a bikini with the loose skin and stretchies on my stomach. That said, the prices are just way too much, a swimsuit can only hide so much LOL

Friend of mine just got one of these for a trip post-baby (4 weeks!) and said it really was slimming and held in all the bits that she wanted it to…well worth the price if it works! Tempted to try one but still clinging to hope that I wont need it by summer :)

Agree with the above posters – seriously, putting Spanx on this model is silly and somewhat insulting to those of us who would be interested to see what it would do on a different size person (size 10 or up). Also am totally with poster “Val” about how she would be lucky to have $200 to update her spring wardrobe – I hear ya and me too….I was just in Target and wishing desperately that I had even $100 to buy some new things for my 2 kids for spring/summer (can’t even think about updating mine yet).

Love Spanx, but their marketing is disappointing! I want to see the suit on a size 12 or 14! Tummy or no tummy, seeing these models does not make me a believer until I see it on an ‘average’ sized girl!

- lipsy on

Its not out of the question that the suit is doing its job on the model and smoothing out any bulges she might have. I mean even the smallest celebs wear spanx on the red carpet because no on is perfect and even if they put it on a size 12 or 14 it would still be a plus size model who is toned and has an excellent figure.

Unfortunately, you all need to give it up- no ad is going to show a woman with a saggy pooch, big thighs, etc in a swimsuit ad, even in one for post-maternity bathing suits. It’s sad but advertisers want you to admire the woman in the picture, thinking that you will want to look like her. People tend to idolize size 0′s rather than 12-14′s. I would like it to be different but that’s just the way it is. The pink suit is pretty but the grey and black one looks like spanx, I don’t think it is flattering.

- Ashandra on

Besides, I don’t really understand spanx in general- why not just wear a top or bathing suit that is more figure flattering until the weight you want to lose it gone, versus wearing corset like body garments? I would never wear spanx.

- Ashandra on

I am a size 0 and I wear Spanx.
I’ve had 3 c-sections, my abdominal muscles are separated and I had a hernia that has since been repaired. I have a huuuuuge pouch and lots of extra skin. Total mess down there. I have been patiently waiting for Spanx to put out a swimwear line – I don’t know if I am ready to spend that much $$$ though.
Now the just need to add a wonderbra on top to take care of the saggy deflated boobs and I’d be all set :-)
