Exclusive: Meet Mikaella Castroneves!

Tamara Reynolds for PEOPLE for use on CBB

Hélio Castroneves routinely drives 225 miles per hour on the racetrack without breaking a sweat.

But when he took his newborn daughter Mikaella to her first doctor’s visit in January, the three-time Indianapolis 500 champ turned into a nervous wreck behind the wheel.

“It was snowing and some of the roads were icy,” says Hélio, who is enjoying first-time parenthood with his girlfriend of two years, Atlanta restaurateur Adriana Henao, 34. “I was very cautious!”

One year ago Hélio, 34, was on trial in Miami for tax evasion (he was acquitted in April).

“It was like a Category 5 storm,” he says now. But it’s been all sunny skies since Mikaella arrived on Dec. 28th.

With the upcoming racing season just weeks away, the Dancing With the Stars winner is savoring every moment with his baby girl.

“At night I put her on my chest, and I give her the bottle,” he says. “I can feel her breathing and hear her heartbeat. It’s the greatest feeling in the world.”

So far Mikaella isn’t following her dad’s tire tracks.

“She doesn’t like to ride in the car!” he says. And that’s just fine with him: “There’s only one race-car driver in the family. Maybe she will play golf!”

Cheryl Hines' Bonding Ritual? Mother-Daughter Manicures!

Tom Vickers/Splash News Online

From unwinding at the park to spending weekends painting pottery, Catherine Rose Young loves catching up on some one-on-one time with mom Cheryl Hines. For the Curb Your Enthusiasm star and her daughter, their time spent bonding recently has been at the salon during mother-daughter manicures.

“Usually she sits in my lap and we get our fingernails done together,” Cheryl tells OK!. “It’s a real fun time for us.”

While Catherine gets much delight in choosing an über girly polish for herself — “the brighter and the sparklier, the better” — it’s icing on the cake when she’s allowed to pick out a fun color for mom too!

“If I’m not shooting, I’ll let her pick out my color,” Cheryl explains. And in true 5 ½-year-old fashion, the actress jokes she’s sported some unusual trends thanks to her daughter.

“I’ve had some really nice, green fingernails before.”

While Catherine is high on her list of priorities, Cheryl says the occasional alone time she carves out with husband Paul Young is “really not easy,” but just as crucial.

“You really have to schedule it because it doesn’t come naturally,” she admits. “You have to bite the bullet and get a babysitter and convince yourself that it’s important.”

Caught Caring: The Roger Federer Foundation

Celebrity Baby Blog – Caught Caring

As Roger Federer‘s success as a tennis player has grown, so has his happiness off the court. The 28-year-old World No. 1 recently married longtime love Mirka Vavrinec, and together the couple welcomed twin daughters Myla Rose and Charlene Riva, 7 months next week, in 2009.

With so much to be grateful for, Roger has been paying his good fortune forward with the Roger Federer Foundation (RFF), which last year spent more than $1 million on education in South Africa, Tanzania, Mali, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia.

Speaking from the latter nation last week — where he was serenaded with ‘Roger, our Father’ by schoolchildren — Roger explained that his mom’s South African heritage inspired the charity. “As I got older and got more money, I wanted to expand [to other countries],” he told Reuters. “When I arrived at the school and all of the children were singing, it was very emotional …. I didn’t really understand it at the beginning but I still had tears in my eyes.”

Students at the school — one of two schools RFF funds completely in Ethiopia — beat their benefactor in a 1K race and then had lunch together, where Roger patiently fielded their many questions, including whether he has children of his own. Answering in the affirmative, Roger said he hopes the foundation will someday be run by Myla and Charlene. “I definitely want to show them that this world exists as well,” he explained. “There’s no way around it for them because I’ll be traveling.”

“It will be a very exciting 10 years for me because I’ll be trying to educate and help them and show them all these things.”

With a vision and slogan of “I am tomorrow’s future,” RFF provides sporting opportunities for children in Roger’s native Switzerland but is primarily focusing its time, energy and money on Africa. It offers charitable grant-making opportunities only in those countries which rank among the 50 poorest in the world, with child mortality rates of over 15% and where less than half of all girls attend the fifth grade.
